I've wondered this too. I got a letter from my bank saying they were converting their debt cards from Visa to MC. Hum, I pulled out my wallet and checked, I already had a MC debt card. A few days later my new and still MC debt card arrived. I figured no problem, I'll get around to activating it one day. Then within a day or two the bank started sending me emails reminding me to activate the new card? Weird.

The only difference I know of is the 1% currency conversion fee Visa charges. Mastercard does not. So, we don't use the Visa in other countries.

Rummor was that MC got into some billing trouble/fraud(rumomor?) a while back and everyone switched to Visa, who then had a field day with their percentage-fee monopoly.
Knocking down a bad company until it gets into shape? or the opposite? Dunno.

Bloodsucking is virtually unnoticed though. "Please everyone in the US, send me just 1% of your net income?". "It's not much". "Just 1%". "All 150(?) million of you."

John, where have you been. There are 300 million of us.

john70t 07-29-2006 02:25 PM

Thanks, the US census was about 50 million about a hundred years ago, I was guessing-long time since high school.
