It'd only be fair if you were being paid to moderate OT. Otherwise, is it worth it?

You've started two threads regarding the "personalities" on this board, and how those personalities haven't been playing nice. The first thread you closed yourself because of mudslinging, and it feels the second is heading that direction.

Simply put, I thought it crazy when you took this position as OT moderator, particularly when many of the angry posters we have now were already present. I only wonder why you do it? Since around 9/11, moderating this board must be like fighting an uphill battle.

I can see the desire to be part of an intellectual discussion, but it feels those discussions in OT are becoming far and few between without emerging into personal attacks that you continually warn against.

So the question stands: is this worth it?

In a word, yes. I value this community and venue. Many here I consider friends. I will do what I can to keep it from become being destroyed by people who's sole purpose seems to be to inflame and insult others.

Or I'll just go play ping pong. I haven't decided yet :p

If you have an opinion contrary to other posters.....perhaps you should just post it instead of lobbying to prevent others from expressing their opinion.

I think it's more an issue of the level of dignity that should be carried around here other than an opinion.

In elementary school if the Nun broke the pointer when she beat you costs were incurred on the bad boy. If she broke the yard stick on you a silent hero emerged as that took a good whack and didn't often happen. Your pockets were emptied every day to tap your allowance until all debts were paid. The system was operationally efficent. Don't ask how I know.

Somewhat managing this OT has to be about as much fun as trying to get a bunch of gold medal winners to work together on a common job.
