inexpensive driving shoes
I was referred to these today by a fellow racer.
They are not flame rated, so would not pass in a sanctioned event, but would be great for autox, most DE, and those mountain twisties. My friend says they fit very similarly to his Simpson shoes. And they're cheaper. http://www.finishline.com/store/catalog/product.jsp;jsessionid=HLI1SZE3XX51PLAQAJUCFGFMCAB GWIV0?categoryId=cat20065&productId=prod563037&resetResult=true&displayBreadcrumb=true&Ntt=driving+shoes&N=0&isSearch=true&oldRequestedURI=%2fstore%2fcatalog%2fparamsearch.j sp&Nu=product_id&Ntk=ALL_FIELDS If that link doesn't format correctly, try this one: http://tinyurl.com/jxkgm

I picked up a pair of wrestling shoes from a Nike outlet for the first time I went to a racing school. Also not flame-rated, but Skip Barber didn't care. Spent $20 or so.

Wrestling shoes work great. I use my old Asics.
