Starting problem with `98 F150

The truck has a new battery and plenty of power. Turn the key and you get one click. Turn it again and it starts. I'm thinking its the starter or a solenoid. Can anyone who has dealt with this give me info before I crawl under there and start replacing parts?

I had the same thing happen about a year ago with my truck. The starter had given out. IIRC, the starter and solenoid are a single unit on the F150. I had it towed to the dealership and had them fix it.

Those Ford starters tend to cook after a while. They are real close to the exhaust. Usually the heat shield falls off. Was a big problem with the early '90's ones they had a ceramic shield over them.
