I dunno, golf certainly has gained in popularity due to Tiger, but at the same time, it's getting kind of boring. Sad thing is that too many of the other players just seem to back off and give up when Tiger is charging. I hope someone else can win, just to put some excitement back into it. Sergio, Davis, and Phil will all self-destruct. Phil is still dealing with his demons. Daly would be fun, but he'll probably get pissed in the final round and walk, or not even make the cut. I'd love to see someone like Couples pull it off....slim chance.

I disagree completely. Since Tiger has been on the scene, golf has gotten more exciting. Any of the top players can win on any given day. When Tiger is on, nobody can touch him, but you just never know if he will be on or not. For that matter, Phil has the same type of days; if he is on, he can beat Tiger, if Tiger is having an average day. I don't think any other player that is within range of Tiger will ever back off and give up. These guys are professionals, they are used to the pressure.

I tried to learn and like golf for two years. I mean I really wanted to like it. I didnīt. I donīt have any talent and I lack the patience. I am usually a cool tempered guy with lots of patience. I need to be to cope with my daily job. But golf... couldnīt handle it.

You spend four hours at the course. After 17 holes you have played fantastic. Have a shot at the personal record. At the 18th you slice the damn ball out in the wilderness, loose six shots and the game is down the drain. Hate it. Not to mention the fees and cost for the equipment. The silly dress code and upper class farts.

Na, Iīll stay in the garage..

I do appreciate two things though. The fact that Tiger is black and winning everything in a stiff upper lip sport and that he is married to a Swedish girl.

Golf exciting?

Hey...back years ago, I was an avid golfer, three leagues a week, couldn't wait for Saturday for an additional 18. For some strange reason, one day I just stopped and discovered there was indeed life after golf. I wasn't bad at it either. Now, when I see golf on TV, I think to myself that as boring as playing can be, when did golf become a spectator sport of such proportions?

Nothing against those who truly enjoy it, but for the most part I agree with George Carlin's description of the game.

I played nine this afternoon with an intern in my office who was the Maryland HS girls champ a few years ago. She returns to college Sunday.

Her father and I are friends...she is BTW, not, "stiff upper lip". She is Hispanic.

I play three or four times a year. I shot a 52, she shot two over...from the whites. Her boyfriend shot three over.

And no, this thread will NOT have pics.

Golf is fun with kids and good young golfers...in moderation.
