I'm selling a figurine on an art classifieds website, and got this reply this morning to how he wants to handle the transaction. To me it just doesn't sound right.

Thanks for your email in which you accepted the offer to sell your Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist to my client.I am particularly impressed by the prompt attention accorded the matter considering the need for us to conclude this deal in a timely manner.
I will want to restate clearly that i am a agent based in UNITED KINGDOM with long years of experience and arrays of clients across the globel.
Towards concluding this entire deal and the issuance of the ceritified cashiers check or money order by my client,there is a slight problem which i believe should not be a problem, if i can get my message clearly to you. I want to know specifically if you will be able to treat this accordingly and i will want you to be free in asking me questions if you are not clear with any point in my explanations.

My client said he will only raise a ceritified cashiers check or money order that will cover and be for the sales of the Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist,my commission as an sales agent and the entire shipping charges that includes the customs, excise and clearance charges of the Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist from the united states to UK.
This means the payment (ceritified cashiers check or money order)that will be sent to you will include the the money for the sales of your Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist,my commission as a sales agent and the shippers fees for organising a home car up service of the Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist from your base down to UK its new origin.
You did not need to worry as my shipping company will come to pick the Stickley Rocking Chair and Footstool up from your base for shippment to the UNITED KINGDOM .The reason for this shippment method is as a result of the age difference of the Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist which does not make it directly shippable into UNITED KINGDOM.
What i want to clarify is that will you be able to send the shipping charges that i will pay to my shipping company and my commision back to me immediately upon you recieving the money order which my client will be sending to you at your address.

BECAUSE IT IS AS GOOD AS CASH AND IT HAS ALL RIGHTS AND PRIVILEDGES
THAT CASH HAS ." YOU ARE ENTITLED AND HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO COLLECT THE
EXCESS FEES THAT YOU WANT TO WIRE TO ME SO THAT I CAN PAY THE
SHIPPING FEE.
Upon the receipt of the shipping payment,i will make the payment arrangements and fax a copy of the receipt of shipping payment to you stating the exact dates,time and shipping company personnel that will be handling the,title,transfers that relates to the Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist.
This will enable me to issue a directive to my client on the need to raise and send the payment to you asap with out any further delay .
If you agree to assist in this capacity with an aim to concluding this transaction promptly i will need the following informations from you.I will want you to send the name with which you want the payment to be addressed.
The physical postal address and your telephone numbers.
Upon the receipt of this , i will forward all this particulars to my client inorder for the payment to be sent to you via express priority courier mail.

Sure it's a scam but go along with him and score yourself a real BOGUS cashiers check. I've collected five of them so far. It's like collecting baseball cards as a kid. And when you have guests over and they see thousands of dollars in cc's laying about they will think you've made the big time. Plus they time and effort the perp devotes to you playing him keeps him away from "real" victims.

And he not only manages to use the term "Unique Sclulpture from famous Croatian Artist" a lot, but also manages to make the same spelling mistake each time...

The scammer hopes that the victim will forward the "excess" by western union before the victims bank realizes the cashiers check is a phony. If the victim acts quick enough as requested he will have forwarded his hard earned cash before he finds out that he's been scammed.

That's stupid, who the hell would forward cash from a check that hasn't even been cleared in there account yet?

You'd be surprised, most banks will "say" the check is good at face value then start to process which could take as long as 2-3 weeks.

So initially all seems well.
