Most Interesting Person Alive?

In the age of George Bush and Paris Hilton, here is someone actually worth paying attention to. 15 years ago today, he gave the world a present that would change things forever. His name is Tim Berners-Lee, and here is his website, (check out the second paragraph of his bio):

http://www.w3.org/People/Berners-Lee/

Here is his blog, which Todd (NS) or one of the other tech-savvy dudes here will have to translate for me:

Whatever school system produced this guy needs to be brought here tout-suite, and anyone who can't keep up gets shuffled to trade school or prison. ;)

Here, I'll save some Republican the trouble:

"You mean it wasn't Al Gore??" Nyuk, nyuk... :D

No, no, no, Al Gore invented the Internet, this guy just invented the Web (the Web rides 'on' the Internet) :)

Arthur C. Clarke has been a hero of mine practically my entire life... but Hawking is someone that is almost mythical. Amazing person.

But I will say, as much as I used to dislike Bill Gates, he is getting more and more of my admiration every day. He's doing good things these days.

I think you're missing the point of school systems if you think his outcome was related to the system.

I agree that the US system should be changing to get people out of highschool who don't want to be there. And educate those who want an education.

Vint Cerf is usually mentioned along with TBL. The Internet and Web arose from many parents...

But the guy who impresses the hell out of me is Ted Nelson.

His idea of a worldwide network connecting personal computers was a bit ahead of its time in 1960.

Just kid'n....

+1 for Vinton Cerf. Robert Metcalfe was also pretty instrumental.
