homeland security, take two
First try didn't work, here's another try:
I justy got this warning, it's real. No hoax. looks like the bad guys are going to attack computers in the next day or two and it looks like it might be big. The following is regarding exploitation of the vulnerability patched in MS06-040. DHS - Department of Homeland Security has recommended the patch be applied as quickly as possible. DHS has rarely reported in on patching activities. Microsoft recommends applying immediately. SANS reports active exploitation and recommends patching immediately. There is no malcode released at this time but this type of vulnerability (exploitation by unauthenticated remote user) is conducive to worm activity, and the exploit has been published on the Internet. We do not know what the vector(s) will be or how it will be delivered. The potential for a Denial of Service to the network from infected hosts is the primary concern. We do not know if the malcode will be a memory resident or will contain a payload which would expand the remediation effort and lengthen the potential network outage. Industry experts are expecting the malcode to be released within the next 24 - 36 hours. |
As long as Pelican will still work, who cares?

I normally do the 'Windows Update' twice a month. Did it 3 days ago. Was one there.
Tonight, there were 8. They are in, thanks. |

No, you have to do the windows update. Go to control panel, security center, then "check for latest update from windows update". Just now there were something like 10 on my in-laws computer, and I have automatic updating enabled. Thanks for the heads up, I have to call my wife at home to do ours now.
