My trusted shop screwed up!
I've been taking my Porsche to a private shop for about 8 or 9 years now and have always been satisfied with the work. About 2 weeks ago I took it in for a timing belt, tensioner and some minor scuffs and paint scrathes from a paking lot incident (Total bill was all but 2K). Today I finally got a chance to wash it and there are some serious paint scrathes in the nose panel that were not there before. Also my 6 moth old driver's side floor matt now has what looks likegrease stains on it. This is a 16 year old car but it's inexcelent shape. I plan on calling him tomorrow and discussing it. I wish I would have looked the car over better when I picked it up. What would you do?

2 weeks is too long to get much, but you can let them know you won't be back.

Talk to him first, and see what his response is.
I think it'll all depend on the relationship you have with him... 8-9 years is a LONG time... regardless of the 2 weeks going by, if you talk to him and let him know how you feel, he'll probably (if he's smart) try to make it right, or at least discuss options with you. To just drop him because some potential new guy screwed up seems a little overboard, IMO. |
If hes a good mechanic cut him some slack, mayeb it somehting u never noticed before, either way talk to him, good mechanics u trust are hard to find

Anyone can (and occasionally does) make mistakes. Don't be so hasty. Like sewell94 says, good mechanics u trust are hard to find.

I agree with the others. It could be that one of the workers messed your car up, but did not tell the owner.
If all else fails, there is an excellent shop in North Hollywood called "TRE". David |
