Houston Honda dealer wrecks a customers S2k
Appears the guy dropped his car off for work, a tech wrecked it, and the dealer is offering to fix his car, but he's pissed.
Personally, I'm not sure I'd want a fixed car since what was dropped off was a car that had never been broken. Often after shunts the car is never right again. I'd want a replacement, and I'm betting that with enough pressure he could get one. http://bad-car-dealer.blogspot.com/

Although I feel bad for the guy, I don't think I would take it to the internet as quickly as he does. As much as I avoid advising lawsuits, this sounds like an easy case for a lawyer to settle. And much more effective then renting a billboard.

Sounds like they fuct up, and are pussyfooting around making it right.
He went in with a near perfect car (doesn't say what he took it in for), and they fuct it up. They should get him back to exactly where he was.

I don't get why a straight appology is so hard for many businesses to own up to these days. Perhaps the lawyers have all advised their clients that its the same as admiting fault. Well, it seems like they could have avoided a lot of hassles by just saying their guy messed up and make him whole. I agree with Wayne, they do seem to be making a decent attempt to take care of the financial issues. It seems like they should have had a better attitude about the whole thing. I think the guy is a little high strung also. I am sure that didn't help the process.

Yep, a lawyer and or the TV News would get this fixed quickly, but on the weekend when you are really pissed, the internet offers the ability to vent.

If something like that happened to a 911 owner, I think there would be a bunch of folks screaming murder on this BBS. I'm sure the dealership tried to play this guy and get him to settle. It's a game. The brush off would set off most into a rage.
We all know how special our 911's are, and this guy's S2000 was his special vehicle. I just saw a thread in "Technical" about an insurance claim that would have a 911 painted and clear coat instead of single stage. We all know that's not right, and the owner wasn't going to settle for it. The dealer and its agent (tech) behaved irresponsibly and then tried to minimalize the owner's value and situation. A good lawyer may set the situ right for the guy, but it'll cost him too. If his Blog does something....good for him. Insurance companys and dealerships can be the slimmiest corporations. Stick it to them I say. The next time someone b!tches about their wrench or dealer leaving their 911 out in the rain, remember this guy. |

Last time my VW went to a dealer as I was about to sign the work order I noticed a line that basically read
"Dealer not responsible for any damage incurred to car while they had it in the shop or a road test" So I asked them to clarify the statement and they said it meant what it said. So I proposed a question to them. If your mechanic is driving my car for a road test and has an accident that is deemed his fault who is going to pay to repair my car. The answer was me. I refused to sign the order and told them under no circumstance where they allowed to drive my car out of the shop. If the car needed to be road tested I would be happy to take the mechanic for a demonstration ride. Car has not been back to a dealer again and I do all my own work.

Yep. That crap just keeps some of the less informed from going after their arses if they screw up. Like I said before, it's a game. If they can prevent 1/3 of their pissed off customers from going after them with such a clause, they've got at least a 33% successful court record.
The Lasik center that did my eyes tried to make me sign such a waiver. Told them I wasn't going to as it would just be an annoyance if we go to court, at which time the waiver would be tossed. The doc conceded, and we were friends...and my eyes are great now. |

I would not settle for anything short of another car myself. If they crashed it hard enought to do the damage described, there is almost certainly occult damage that may not manifest itself until months down the road, with they will deny is connected.
Marvin Zindler is a very old investigative reporter in Houston, in search of eating establishments with "slime in the ice machine" They dealership is trying to screw him over, what would you do? They wouod be giving me high blue book retail on my car and a new one in the right color at something close to dealer invoice(Say dealer's cost) THe dealership should not be making a profit on this deal in any fashion.
