Anyone else into geocaching?

I recently started doing this and although I kind of suck at it, I think it's a great excuse to get outside and see what's around. Get in touch with your community and experience it, etc.

Anyone else into this? Find anything good?

geocaching?

Saving small bits of earth for quick retrieval later without having to return to the source location?

Explain por favor.

http://www.geocaching.com/

Basically you download coordinates into a GPS receiver and go there trying to find "caches" of stuff left by other people. Some are just logbooks that people sign (take various forms), others are bona-fide caches of stuff. Usually trinkets and stuff but occasionally something semi-valuable. Typical courtesy is to "take something, leave something".

A lot are very difficult to find and hidden in plain sight all over the place. I was shocked to learn how many are out there!

Been doing it for a while - My 3 y/o loves doing it and asks to do it just about every weekend. Down load a bunch of caches to the gps and arrange them so I make a big arc and jump in the p-car and go.

We still kinda suck at it but we find more than we miss. Got eaten alive by ants last weekend though. Was glad my son got away with only a few bites

My brother-in-law does this and seems to enjoy it...

I had a flight attendant that used to do it. Then she was fired for some of her extracurricular activities (edited to protect the innocent).

I always suspected there was more to it than that. The geocaching I meant.

She?

Was she a high school teacher in Florida too by chance?

OH NO!!!!

not another addiction! I had no idea of this hobby/addiction till your post, just recently i have been looking at 95 acres of woods, with a survey, and no recent tags, I thought of google earth and gps, asked my realestate buddies if this was possible, no feedback. And then your post, and then a quick jump over to geocache.com, several hours later, I am in the car to get a gps unit, next day out hunting for cache just down the street!! A freakin blast! Scored a travel bug in the second cach of the day, now thinking of where next to go, where to set new cache, and who else I can suck into this interesting new diversion, adds a new spin to travel destinations. thanks, i think:rolleyes: ;) SmileWavy
