They cut a tiny hole...fished around a bit with a tool that looked a bit like a crochet hook and pulled out the tube. Then they snip off a small bit. You don't feel a thing. Pretty interesting to watch. They had me lie on the table waiting for the meds to take effect with a sheet over me with a hole cut in in to pull my equipment through. The doctor came in and asked if it would be ok to use the procedure to teach with. I said ok (drugged into stupidity). A few minutes later about 5 young women (probably 17 to about 20 years old) ...med techs I guess...came in giggling and examined my privates. After the small incision was made and he started...one said she was getting sick so they all had to leave. He joked the entire time (I found out later that it was his first time to do one)...After examining the tube he fished out, he suddenly got serious and said was not sure if he was snipping the right one and sent for a more experienced female doctor. She came in and was cracking jokes and examined it very closely with a grin and said..."I've seen thousands of these, pretty impressive specimen." I said, "yes, but I have slowed down and don't get to use it much anymore...only a couple of times a day."..Did I say they provided some great meds beforehand?
Then she said, "go ahead and snip it." I laughed, but he looked worried and said...what if it is not the right one and how will I know?" She said: "the only other thing it could be is an artery and you will know because there will be blood all over the ceiling." Of course it was the right one and everything was cool. I never felt a thing.

Definitely an experience like I suppose skydiving would be.

First they gave me a mild 'calming drug' which I think was valium. Didn't seem to do much.

Having novocaine shot into your testicle is the worst part of day one.

But I had significant pain and swelling for the next 4 days that curtailed most of my activities. There seemed to be some internal scar/adhesion that didn't let go for a couple of weeks.

Not the most fun you can have, but far less intrusive than having your partner get a tubal ligation.

Anyone said No, and had the wife get her tubes tied?

I had the scalpal taken to my nuts. I was lifting weights on Monday. What you do the first 48 hours will totally affect your recovery.

A few years ago, driving through Hawthorne, I passed the office of a gynecologist named Dr. De****o. (substituted a v for a u because of the BBS censoring) I just looked him up. He's still deep into his profession.

I've also had the "no scalpel technique". The procedure was virtually painless, although having the boys yanked to-and-fro was a little unsettling... which, according to my wife, is nothing compared to the discomfort of a woman having her tubes tied... which I was, and have been told, many, many, many times :)

Been considering this myself. . . I dunno if I like the idea of local anasthetic only for something like that, but if others have done it and say it ain't that bad I guess I'll have to take their words for it.

I thought you were supposed to go back to the doc for followup counts and only after three consecutive "0" counts would you be given the green light to go unprotected and assume zero risk of accidents. . .

10-12 releases then no activity for 2-3 days. Then you take a "sample" to the doc. Once you have two Zero counts your good to go.

The operation itself wasn't too bad. The doc gave me a valium and vicoden to take before I got to the office. He did have to give me quite a few local shots, but only the first one hurt. There was a some pain, but not too bad. I had a little discomfort for a couple weeks and then I could tell something had happened for a few months. Now two years later, I can't feel any difference and I'm just as randy as ever.

Funny. Just had it done last Tuesday. It still feels like I got hit in the nuts about an hour ago, but it's not to bad. The thought of getting it done is much worse then actually doing it.

I guess everyone's experience is different. I came off the table, about 6" straight up, when the Doc went to burn the first one. Other than that- when they tell you to go home, lay down and put an ice bag on it- do it! I had mine done in the am. They said to go home and do the ice thing for the rest of the day, then to go a week without any heavy lifting. Two days after the job, I mowed my yard. Riding mower. Next day my nards were the size of grapefruit and sore as a mf, but looking back, still far easier than what "she" would have had to endure.

Mine was 21 years ago. I got to watch, quite interesting. No problms, till the doc found out I rode my cycle to and from his office. He had a fit!

Guess I got lucky. Wife was in for a hernia repair and agreed to a tubal at the same time. Completely painless for me. I didn't feel a thing.
