Pelicans on the Dragon T-shirts..need input

I am in the process of gathering info on some official Pelican on the Dragon T-shirts. A couple of things have come to mind.

First, I am not doing this to make ANY money off of it, more so I will probably end up spending money to make this happen and I do not mind at all I enjoy this stuff.

1. Price range you are willing to spend for a shirt. We can do cheap ones for less that $10 or in that range or spring for some nice ones and spend in the $20 range. I personally like a nice shirt but some might be unwilling to spend $20 on a T-shirt.

2. I am no graphic artist and I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn Express lately. I need help for the artwork for the shirt.

Some points to consider for the artwork:

-Incorporate Pelican Parts
- Incorporate Dragons Tail
- Include the date of the event
- Of course, some Porsche content

This, of course has to be approved by Wayne before it can go any further.

I can offer a couple of free shirts in exchange for a good design that can be used on them.

Maybe if we get a few designs we can put it up to vote, right now, I will be happy with just a nice clean professional design.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

I can't make this years run but I will take a $20 shirt.

wilke3169 08-25-2006 10:35 AM

I would be happy to pay 20.00 for a nicer t'shirt. I am not an artist either but may be able to get some help with this. Know a graphic arts senior at Clemson very well. I know he would be able to come up with something.
Jay did you get my email a few nights ago? If not i will try again.

Thanks,
Kevin

I suck graphically. I am in at any (reasonable) price for a nice T'shirt.

My only suggestion would be grey as a color.

Ok I'll go for the $20 shirt. I also like the idea of gray................it'll match the rapidly changing hair color. :)

That is completly understandable.....................Do you have any sugestions for the design? and Will you be joining us? I'm sure you can find a ride here on the east coast. I would let you ride with me but you'll have to convince my wife to give up her seat! (good luck)

Great idea. Put me in for one.

Will you accept royalty payments in the form of warm beer? :D

austin552 08-27-2006 07:42 AM

Here are some of the shirts for sale at the Dragon to use for ideas.

One step ahead of you sir. The designs will most likely be in this thread and I am asking that they be respectful and classy.

I had already planned on having about 5-10 extra shirts run off and sent to Wayne as a thank you for letting us use the Pelican name.

Again, I am not out to make money on this, its purely for the fun and love of the car and road.

The only reason I am attaching the Pelican name to this (we got Waynes permission a few weeks ago) is because this forum is where the idea originated.

Agreed, I was hoping that there was someone with some artistic talent that could help.

In the next week or so I am going to contact the local T-shirt guy I use for my company shirts and see if he can come up with a design.

Icemaster 09-05-2006 04:32 PM

One thing that comes to mind would be to get a lineup or some kind of group-shot of everyones rides in the lot or at one of the overlooks, either with or without the drivers next to them and use that as the main art for the shirt. Obviously it'd be done after the fact, but it might have a little more meaning that way, especially to those that were able to attend...

Just my $.02.

wilke3169 09-05-2006 04:49 PM

I do have someone who will put things together if we have some ideas or art work. I know Wayne would approve of something tastefully done with Pelican metioned. Of course with his blessing before. Do we have any sort of approval from Tail of the Dragon? I noticed that the name and the emblem are registered. Let me know and I will be glad to get involved.

Jims5543 09-05-2006 05:30 PM

A dragon in general would suffice IMHO we do not need the actual Tail of the Dragon artwork.

We are not selling the shirts for profit only at cost. I just wanted to make that clear. So we are not benifitting financially from the artwork only enjoying it.

Google Dragon, or, if you want let me see if my bro in law has any dragon sketches. He smokes a lot of crypto and draws some crazy pics. ;)

Lots to work with here:

Jims5543 09-05-2006 05:37 PM

It does not even have to be a full Dragon.

Something like this....
