I'm so pleased. He nailed the Board of Review. I pushed him on memorizing the Scout Code, Law, Motto, etc. and it paid off. He's got one distinction that I'll never have.
My daughter got her Girl Scout Gold Award (equivalent to an Eagle) several years ago, and the credit goes to her mom for that. I'm pleased, all of a sudden, he's very jazzed. I told him early on that you can put that on a resume and it means something.

Hugh - congrats to him! He will regret certain things in life but this will not be one.

Well heck, if he got that far he shouldn't have needed to study the oath and such...
I'm an eagle too...

I also was a Scout and joined mostly for the outdoor activities, (no dad around) and just bebopped along w/o earning the Badges. Congratulations to your Son (and Daughter), these are Awards that were earned by many of the people that influenced the 20th and now, 21st Centuries. You have reason to be Proud.

That's an important milestone in any boys life. I quit after achieving Life. The scouts changed the system (and handbook) over to a more urban curiculum. At that point and I threw in the towel.
If I could only describe the ridicule I endured while in the scouts...woof.

Extensive rehab of a local seniors daycare facility. Painting and flooring mostly. Part of a local hospital that he volunteered to for several years (before he needed an Eagle project)

It's a very good thing to have; I am surprised every time someone brings it up to me in an interview or something because it is on my resume.
Congrats to the young man and to the parents. It's a clear mark of a job well done for both.

Congratulations! That is fantastic! Both my boys are Eagle Scouts. Some of my most cherished memories of my boys growing up came while we were out on Scouting activities. It got me (us) out doing things I would have never tackled - rode our bikes 250 miles down the CA coast, paddled 50 miles on the Russian river in a canoe, backpacked all over Yosemite, deep sea fishing, river rafting... some really great times, all under the umbrella of Scouting. I will always support Scouting.
Congrats!!! ![]()

Congrats Hugh.
Scouts must be a up north thing. When I was growing up no one was in the scouts. |

I'm an Eagle Scout as well, it has opened a lot of doors for me and I hope your son finds the same. Congrats to both of you, I can tell you from personal experience that my parents' support and help made it all possible.

Another Eagle here. Congrats to you and your son. It really does mean something on college apps and resumes, unlike a lot of the other padding that often gets lumped in there.
I know I wouldn't have finished without my dad around to kick my a$$ occasionally, so I'm sure you played a big part in it Hugh. Do something special for the ceremony. My scoutmaster took his son to the fanciest restuarant in town after the ceremoney - and made him keep on the uniform. ![]()
