Anyone rent a nice beach house in Hawaii
Working on the family vacation, thinking instead of the Hilton, we would rent a beach house. I have never done this and not sure how to find a nice house.
Thanks Michael

Just came back from a week in K'auai. It is mind-numbing how beautiful it is there.
I'd look into a timeshare before renting a beach house. With a beach house, you're at the mercy of the beach house owner's discretion as to what he/she believes the rent should be. With a timeshare, you can reserve your space, or trade for other spaces. The best part is virtually anywhere in Hawaii is a key destination for vacationers, so trading for any other vacation spot in the world should be fairly easy.

Dd74,
Where is the best place to look into a timeshare? Michael

tug2.net lists weekly rentals by owner. Lots to choose from. Great resorts. If you register, you get access to an amazing database of reviews and other data. I use it all the time.

By the way, if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation, try Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club. It's the top rated timeshare in all the Hawaiian islands. I think I saw an ad for a week at Waiohai for $1,800.

In fact, you better hurry over there now. I left a two-thirds full bottle of Kettleone on the kitchen counter. I'd like to see a fellow Pelican drink it, since I couldn't bring it back on the plane. ![]()

In looking at the websites it talks about lockout units, and then just other units. Is the lockout a specific unit?
"I found it" What is a Lockout? Also known as a "lock-off", a lockout unit is a timeshare property which can be divided into two sections, each with its own separate entrance. One major advantage to owning a lockout unit is that two parties may use the timeshare during the same time interval. One week in a lockout unit can typically be exchanged for two weeks in a regular unit. Michael
