new LCD flat panel now what?

So I bought the SONY 46XBR2 flat panel LCD.

Anyone bought a power line protector for their LCD or plasma displays? Belkin or monster want $250.

Anyone submerge the TV into the wall? Mine will be almost 8 inches from wall to front of screen.

Anyone buy that TV protection plan from BestBuy? The free replacement within 4 years if it goes bad. Is it worth it? Do LCD TVs go bad?

Consumer reports has a lot of good info on extended coverage and susceptibility to electrical spike damage. I use the standard protectors available at Best Buy and a number of other outlets.

As for putting it in to the wall. Check the heat generation and whether some kind of cooling fan might be required.

Must be a relatively new model. Largest LCD set listed in the March CR is 37 inches.

Lots of good info and knowledable people here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php

As for a power conditioner, you will notice the difference, but you have to ask yourself how much you're willing to spend for what most people consider a pretty marginal improvement. A good surge protector is all you really need to keep the TV safe from power spikes.

+1 on AVSForums ...

I do have several 'high-end' electronics and all are with basic/good surge protectors. To me anything from Monster Cable et al is just good marketing at work.

HDMI connections between your HD source may it be your DVD player or cable box. The beauty of it is, both audio and video in ONE cable!

Here is a website to check out and a good source to buy from if you ever compared prices. Beware of hype and $$$$!

I skip the Extended Warranty every time! That is where these stores make the most money!
