Ipod is piece of crap
I finally bought my wife an ipod today, got her the 30gb video model, figured we could put about anything we want on it.
What a piece of crap. So far I've had to reload the software on the unit, and it still has yet to sucessfully transfer a file to it. I've selected a few songs, and it gets to about #3 and resets the unit, then widows pops up and says the drive is corrupted. Unless someone has some magic button to fix this thing, its going back tomorrow. |
Never tried an ipod with windows. I've had one since the first and kids bought theirs along the way, and no issues moving files from macs. Yeah, take it back as it really seems to have a problem.
|
I have had one for about a year, used on Windows on several computers with no problems at all. Might take it back or contact manufacturers tech support. Latest computer I plugged the ipod in, the softwear loaded and started on its own.
|
I keep trying to upload files, I'm down to trying one at a time. It thinks they are there, until I unplug the unit. I can never find it on the ipod, and when I plug back into the pc, there is nothing listed on itunes on the ipod.
I can also try to do an automatic update, the ipod goes through about 3 songs, clicks, then resets. Frustrating....... |
Frustrating for sure...We just bought the same unit two days ago--no problems...but our main is a mac.
|
I have a 30G Video - no problems at all and using a Win box.
|
are you using iTunes on windows? When you say "transfer a file", what do you mean? Are you using it as a portable hard drive and doing drag-and-drop?
I own 5 different iPods, and have never had a single issue on Mac or windows. You might have a rare bad one, but believe me, they really do work... |
I'm using the 30gb video ipod on a sony viao, win xp media edition. I'm trying to use itunes to transfer any mp3 file to the ipod. I've tried automatic updating the ipod, drag and drop within itunes, and I get nothing, won't find a file or playlist, clicks and resets.
I'm converting a cd right now to see if I can move that over. I've tried all the 5 r's on apples website, ready for #6, return.... |
I've had one for about a year. Use it on a Windows machine. It's a little slow in updating all the music, but I love it when commuting. No issues.
|
Ok you need to try Anapod Reinitializer
|
Lies, your iPod is perfect, move along....nothing to see here.

I ran the Reinitializer software and now I can manually transfer files with Itunes...... Don't think I'm willing at this point to try the automatic update yet. Made a few playlists, transfered some mp3s from my hard disk. I think I'm done for the night. 4 hours of screwing around with this thing, when I should be working on my car for the next track day.....uuuuuggghh. Thanks! |
I loaded 1200 full rez tunes on my Ipod with no problem and I have a crappy toshiba laptop. Yes, i am a sonic snob......i wanted 1200 of the best sounding songs rather than 15,000 unlistenable MP3 tracks.....lol
|
I have a 60 gig video ipod. I run windows XP, I have 2717 songs, 292 photos and 25 videos on the ipod. It does what it says on the box. I even transfered my songs etc to a new desktop machine and that worked fine and synchronised the ipod as well.
Take yours back and get it swapped - they work fine unless there is a basic problem with the kit. There are 10 million other ipods in the world which work fine too, so dont hesitate to take it back. |
I have 2 rare bad ones too. Never again.
I hear you get what you paid for when you go cheap but I spent big $$ on these and they both are garbage that only work when they want to. |
So is Itunes my problem? Can't get it update my library without issues. I can manually update some songs, and the Anapod manager works well for the trial version......
|
Might be.
Try removing Itunes through add/remove programmes in control panel, then re-download itunes from apple.com and re-install. If that doesnt work, have a look here for help. http://www.ilounge.com/ |
How do I get Itunes completly off my computer? I've uninstalled, downloaded, and reinstalled. When I restarted itunes, it had all my old settings. Something is hiding some where.
|
I would go to iPod Lounge for help. Do a search first. Almost every problem has been covered.
http://www.ilounge.com/ In general my 30G Video works great. I've had problems with my older iPod. Cost to service it was the same as buying a new one. Wonder how many of these get serviced? Latest problem for me was my ENTIRE library on iTunes vanished. Had to install some 3rd party software to transfer the library from the iPod back to iTunes. Then it reappeared with TWO of every song and video! Had to manually delete 100s of doubles. Yeah, these Apple products never have any user interface problems! |
itunes will download songs to your iPod via a sort of modified telepathy if you just set them in the same room together for a few hours. It knows which ones you want by monitoring your brainwaves while you sleep. If you have ANY issues with your iPod and/or iTunes it can always be traced back to the presence of a PC. Keep note that the PC need not be involved in the process, it need only be in the same building as the Mac products to cause problems (unplugging the PC is not enough, it must be removed from the grounds). Your Mac products are iPerfect, move along:D
