Latest Spider for the Collection

Nice little beast I killed in the garage - Wolf Spider. While it was alive its body was balck but after a being in Iso Alcohol for a few hours it has lightened up. The body is well over an inch long - notice the smaller one to the right. Harmless spiders but nasty looking nontheless.

When I first put it in the fluid its eyes were red - thats no longer the case.

As someone who is planning on moving to Texas in the upcoming months, I would appreciate it if you would stop posting these types of pics. Your boobies pics are OK by me--arachnid/creepy crawly pics not so much.

Noah...

TO paraphrase a famous slogan:

"Move NORTH, my son, move NORTH!!"

Texas ain't the place for you, nor is anything South of 45 degrees!!

Even Wisconson and Minnesota have bugs in the Summer.....

And don't even think of going to Florida. I've walked between palmettos and the webs of those big yellow spiders actually restrict your movement.

An Orkin man once told me the way to kill spiders is to keep knocking down their webs, spiders aren't hunters, they wait for their prey to come to them. I keep knocking down webs and they keep coming, any ideas, the bug sprays just piss them off.

My company makes some pretty potent bug spray - it did take a few minutes for this one to go the way of all flesh though. Once they are toes up or at least less mobile, I pick them up with a needle nose pilers and put them in a vile full of 91% rubbing alcohol. Works great.
