AL Qaeda 0 for 5 in the USA
There is an old axiom in war that if U try and defend everything you wind up defending nothing. A pretty good example of that is the Alantic wall constructed by Germany in WW2 to defend against the Allied invasion of Europe.
Sept 11th was a watershed day in American history. One day Americans are self satisified, blithly going about their business. The next they are shocked beyond belief that an enemy could be so successfull in attacking them in their own lair. This awarenss has brought about 3 conditions: 1. Being in a state of heightened awareness everybody is looking over their shoulder. Every policeforce, or govt security agency has its ear to the ground. Anything suspicious and bingo its being looked at....This is more of a mind set than actual govt efficiency in operation. In other words before 911 we really weren't looking for Terrorists on our shores, now we are. 2. Since the hunt for Terrorists is a worldwide operation, in which virtually every Security Agency is looking for them, and their Homebase in Afganistan is nolonger a safehaven, Terrorists have to keep looking over their shoulder and expend resources and time which otherwise could be used in planning and executing operations. 3. Since the hunt has been on, we have picked off numerous First String Leadership Operatives that had years to develope into a battle harden cadre. Now the new Operatives are inexperienced, and have to go through a learning curve which many of them don't survive. U didn't see Ramsy Yousseff or Khalid Mohmadhed blowing themselves up, now did U? So all in all are we safer today than 911 5 years ago? To that I would say yes we are if for no other reason than we are NOW on the Look Out even if poorly done, whereas before 911 the great majority of Americans never thought such a thing could occur.

Tabs,
Would agree with you but a large part of this country does not realize that we are at war. The bombing a few hours ago in Syria of our Embassy is just another sign that we need to realize that we are on the verge of a world war now. Safer? A bit but everyone who is not Moslem in the world now needs to realize that there is a radical group of Moslems who believe that its allah's way or death and they are prepared to die to make this happen.

Remember the Alamo Joe...
Travis drew the line in the sand and said, "Any of you Liberals want make peace with Al Qaeda just step over the line, and U can go make peace with them. The rest of us, well we'll just hunker down and kill em as they come." Those that did decide to make peace went out the gate and were immediately beheaded because Bin Laden had raised the No Quarter Sign in the Window of his 711 store.

Tabs,
I know where the tunnel door is, so lets go around back and surprise them. I never give up and taught McGuiver all he knows. Still have an American Flag in the front yard and will take a lot of the terrorists with me before I go...
