anyone use a USB extender?
 

My zoo webcam project is coming along nicely... just need one more thing.

We need to run a ways to get to where the computers will be from the cameras...

Anyone use any of the USB extenders that work over CAT5 cable?

Something like:

Or is there a better way? Using longer runs of USB cables and powered hubs to do it is not an option...

I have used the USB extenders in the past and they were unreliable, as are the USB hubs I've tried. They may be better now, I tried it with USB 1.0, not USB 2.0. Keep your receipt until you're sure it works!
