Replacement Windows -- Anyone ever get Home Depot's?

Any comments on their product? Based on the argon-filled, reflectively coated, mult-chambered sills, etc, they sure seem to be the "brick outhouse" of replacement windows.

Anyone have any experience with them?

I have replaced 6 windows with their replacements. I have not had any problems with mine and they are about 3 years old. I have 4 more waiting to be installed.

What brand do they call there own? I recall looking at American Craftsman windows just for the fun of it and they looked very poorly made compared to some of the other offerings. Then again they may of had higher quality models.

Hopefully Milt will Chime in as this is his expertise.

window

I used one of HD's Jen-Weld windows for a bathroom remodel. Wood frame clad with metal on outside. Large handicap accessible latches and mechanisms. I am very happy with the quality.

I replaced nine 6' x 3' windows in my breakfast room with Jeld-Wen Zap Packs, ordered through Home Depot. Basically a whole new window, with having to replace the frame boxes.

The only problem I had was on two of the nine windows, the existing box frames weren't exactly square. Simply had to remove a couple piece of brick moulding, square them up and finish the install.

I've used Zap Packs in a few other windows in my house as well, and have really had no other problems. Well, one time they sent the windows the wrong size, but that was because the HD guy wrote the measurements down wrong. HD honored it and re-ordered...at their expense, of course.

You are going to find a lot of different brands at HD. They source local makers. We have Milgard windows from there, and they are fine.

Specifically, I'm talking about the Home Depot 6500 series of windows.
