what a difference a month makes

4 weeks actually, but the human body is an amazing thing. These pics aren't nearly as gruesome as one month ago (I didn't embed them so save the weak hearted):

compare that with (if you dare)

Today I buy a cane to get around. The left leg is weak and too much pressure on it hurts the knee, but I'm supposed to get away from the crutches per the doc. I still can't bend my knee very far, and don't want to try until the wound closes up a bit more. I had to cancel trips next week to DC and the week after to Utah because I can't bend my leg enough to fit in a seat (I barely have enough leg room when I have flexibility). Still hurts though, especially with much knee motion.

Onward and upward. We'll see how long it takes to ditch the crutches for the cane, then the cane for just walk/limp. I'll likely still have bandages/dressings on the wound after losing the crutches/cane. I still have a goal of doing a race clinic in Dec...

Good to hear of your progress.

I went through extensive physical therapy to regain flexability in the knee a few years back. It gets better!

You're probably at the stage where there is a fine line between proper exercise to build strength and pushing it too far and going backwards. My knee was very good at telling me when to back off. Hope yours does too.

well, i walked from the bathroom to the bedroom, then to the living room, then to the kitchen, then back to the living room without crutches or cane. Actually "walked" is not quite an accurate description, perhaps gingerly hobbled. And I have a small apartment. I'm sitting on the couch now and the knee is announcing that it finds this behavior annoying and punishable by stinging pain.

That might be my walking for the day. ;) But there's always tomorrow.

Glad you're on the mend and it wasn't worse.

Thats good news. These things take due time. Do you sleep well at night, or does it keep you from getting a good rest ?

Glad to see you hobbling around. Reminds me of my last parachute mishap. We do rebound and hopefully get smarter!

Edit, both of the bottom ones look a bit rough. it does grow back but takes a while. (as I absently minded rub the scars on my lets from past incidents)

Good to hear you are beginning to get around better. Hope the improvements will come rapidly. Joints are one of those body parts that don't heal rapidly & painlessly, bit it's important to keep them moving. Hope your're up & running soon.

I had ACL replacement surgery and when I came to, my leg was already in a machine that was bending my knee, up and down, over and over. Hurt like hell. MMM morphine. Good luck Todd.

Glad to see you are healing up. Keep it coming.

I just amshed my knee 2 weeks ago today. Really bad I hit it so hard the skin exploded an dI was sure I damaged the knee itself.

I thought of you Todd, and wondered how you were coming along. 2 Weeks later and I still cannot bend my knee all the way without lots of pain but its getting better.

There was a time when I would just walk this crap off, the joys of getting old.

Good the hear your doing better.
