I put a Gibson split dual on my truck and the resonance drove me nuts. Also was very loud. Drove it that way for 1 day before getting a resonator installed. It cut the noise and reesonance way back. Also make sure you get SS tips. Regular chrome will rust in no time.

Nice truck! How does your old one still run? My '03 has about 60K on it, and I expect to keep it until the wheels fall off. You decided not to wait for the 6.4L (I think that's what it is) engine? I got mine because I will be doing some work with it. I had an old Ford van before, which I really liked. I like the truck, but sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't be happier with a van. They're so much easier to load & unload. The truck bed is a lot higher & doesn't have as much room, especially if you have a shell on it like I do.

You're the guy who doesn't pay for his own gas, right?
![]() Beautiful truck. What do you think of the V-10? Probably a little too quiet, huh? ![]()

Nice truck Eric. 220k out of your old truck is great. I've heard the horror stories about the Powerstroke. Did you have any problems with yours? (Obviously couldn't have been major problems as you bought another). Just curious.

I recently met the guy who owns the '89 chevy I sold at 210,000+ miles. It's currently in Hawaii, towing concrete and rocks with over 250k.
I told him if I knew it would keep running so strong, I would have kept it longer. I hope my current 2001 lasts as long. |

Guys, thanks for the comments.
To answer a few questions: I loved the torque of the powerstroke, but it didn't have a limited slip rear end, so when it was in 2wd, all the power would go to the 1 wheel, which sucked whent hat wheel was in a little mud, or on an ice patch. I never had any major problem other than the cam sensors, ball joints(common for Ford 4wd). It still runs great, and is being passed to one of our foremen. We ususally try to put 300-350K on our trucks, we run a fleet of 15-20. Yes, I am the guy whom doesn't pay for his own gas ![]() so I went with the V-10, so far I love it, it will really go when you put the hammer down. I juts couldnt see the 5.4 having enought grunt for a truck this size and with the way I need to use it. My requirements were: V-10, F-250, 4x4, Super Duty, supercab, 8' bed,XLT,tow command package, FX-4 pckge, Limited Slip rear, 40/20/40 seat. If I had ordered it, I would not have went with the chrome package, and would have added a sliding rear window, and privacy glass. Also, black was not my first color choice, but all-in-all I am pleased with the truck. Looking forward to the dual rumble. ![]()

Factory sliding rear windows in new condition are common on eBAy, and tint of course is not a problem on the windows. I got a sliding window from a totaled '05 for mine for ~$100. ( Now the dog can travel between the cab and bed/shell). Removing the old window and installing it was so easy that I probably could have done it by myself, but use an assistant. After dealing w/ 911 glass, it was a breeze.
Truck is a beauty, now just make it the way you want it.
