If you're doing this on Friday, I'd go across the Golden Gate on 101, cut over to Hwy 1/Stinson Beach via Mill Valley/Mt Tamalpais, then continue north on Hwy 1. Hwy 1 north from there is about as good as it gets, for a car or a bike.

" Lake Berryessa "

one of the BEST roads around. Built by the Army Corps of Engineers. Well maintained, nice cambered turns ect.

Take 101 to the San Mateo Bridge, then to Highway 80. Take 80 north the same as you would go to Sacramento

Take the Suisun Valley Road exit off 80 and follow the signs to Lake Berryessa. Suisun Valley Rd. will dead-end at Highway 121. Go RIGHT onto 121 and head toward 128.
When you reach 128 at Moskowite Corners, turn LEFT.

Stay on 128 for 6-8 miles and you will come to Knoxville Road. Turn Right. You will pass Spanish Flats, Berryessa Marina then Rancho Monticello and all the rest of the resorts.
Dont make yourself car sick in the twisties. :-)

Took the drive you mentioned in August of last year. I barely could see 50 yard ahead of me, let alone the ocean, since it was all fogged in. A great twisty road, took it all the way to Point Reyes park. Once there, made the trip to the top lookout, but could not see anything. August in Nor Cal by the ocean is strange.
