And yes I expect to get flamed for leaving out your favorite cigar or having what you consider a turd on the poll.
Hey there are a couple hundred cigar manufacturers did you expect me to spend all day on this? ![]()

That hurts as I like two of them and can only vote for one!
Just picked up some Partega D #4's and two days ago in Spain (yes Jordi, I did a toast in your honor!) picked up some Cohiba Exquitos that may be sacrificed tonight.

Sorry Joe, I meant to make multiple votes available... but it was early and I had a hard time just getting a poll connected to the thread!

The BIGGER and BLACKER the BETTER.
Best Cigar ever smoked was the Partagas 150s A....Churchill Size. In the late 90s Partagas found some Cameroon Wrapper that had been sitting in a warehouse in Spain for 20 years...they made 1M Cigars as a 150th Aniversary Issue. They sold like hotcakes...I paid $750 for a box of 50 As..later they were going for $40 each. Today I am nonplused about many of the different brands...I smoked Artruo Fuentes back in 1990, Romeo Juliettes and Macados Reserves in the 90's, Partiagass, Royal Jamica and Upman in the 80s... I think most of it is a joke...I look for the most bang for the buck...and have found a Bundle Brand named Dominico made by Turano...$1.80 each for Maduro Presidentes or Pyramids. Long leaf filler...or Private Stock which are Avo and Davidoff Seconds... I like the Partagas Black Label Pyramids.. they will take the hair right off your balls...they also are the closest thing to a Cuban Partagas Presidente out there. Hoyo Excaliber Maduros #1s are another flavorfull cigar... I also no longer buy into the superamcacy of Cuban Cigars, the Dominicans are equally as good. Its just another variety of fruit thats all. In the US its forbidden fruit...Its a lot of hype about nothing...

A little surprized the Hoyo's are doing so well, there is a box of those going into the humidor as soon as I get it set up. Probably a box of Fuentes too but I know they are not very well respected so I wasn't going to say anything.
I am getting together a nice list of sticks to try for consideration: Montecristo, Partagas (smoked them before but it has been a long time) Bolivar Belicosos Finos, Trinidad Fundadores... Not surprise the Cohiba is doing so well, probably THE most reconized cigar brand. I think I have mentioned the liquor store that has a box of fake Cohiba's... I don't know what they are but $3 they are not too bad for a quick and dirty ceegar when I have had a few too many beers. ![]()

Partagas D's are number one, and I do like Fuente's, particularly the Ashton VSG, which is made by Fuente.
I had given up on Cuban Cohibas, but recently they seemed to have turned it around a bit.

There's something about a Cohiba. A big greasy pyramide that 45 min later leaves you sitting in the chair staring up at the ceiling in a daze. And yet your throat isn't burning--your mouth feels like getting pickled in cognac and cigar smoke is the most natural thing in the world.
But for just starting out, you can't go wrong with the ubiquitous Monte #4. Sure the make sometimes sucks, but it's a perfect example of how Cuban tobacco is just that much better. You can find boxes for as little as $100. Show me a $4 Dominican cigar that can hold up to even a simple little Monte #4! Last edited by RallyJon; 09-23-2006 at 07:37 PM.. |

My personal favorites:
Romeo y Julieta - Churchill & #4. Monte Cristo - #2 Cohiba - Robusto & Siglo III Trinidad - Coloniales Bolivar - Royal Corona Punch - #11 La Gloria - Medaille d’or #2 Don't waste your time/$$ on Dominican or various other blends (IMO). If you find a good source for "Island" sticks, make sure they are a certified Habanos or "La Casa Del Habano" dealer/store. Otherwise you are almost certain to get screwed with fakes. Even sealed Habanos SA boxes are suspect these days. |

Fuente 8-5-8 maduro please. Maybe a short story too. One thing I still miss about Tampa. Inexpensive cigars.
