The add says it's a curio & relic so why would you have to do the class III paper work? Wouldn't you just need a C&R licence which is cheap and easy to get.

If its full rock and roll, you have to have a Class 3 and do the paperwork, no way around that.

How to Buy Machine Guns, Suppressors, Short-Barreled Shotguns, A.O.W.'s, and Destructive Devices

This is a bit more complex, but we will help you through the process. Start with the following:

First read this short explanation of the rules regarding ownership.

Order your weapon online or phone it in to (801)393-2474 ext. 303. Payment must be made in full before transfer papers will be submitted to B.A.T.F.E. If you are paying by check, we will hold the item for you for a resonable time period awaiting your payment. We reserve the right to reject an order for any reason.

3. Identify a Class III (Machine Gun) dealer near you. Impact Guns has reputable class 3 dealers willing to do transfers on file all over the country. We will assist you in locating one near you. Put his shipping address on your online order. You should also contact several regular dealers and ask them if they know of a class 3 dealer. Also a good source for leads are local shooting clubs, firing ranges, NRA members, etc. Your local class 3 dealer will be doing the ATF Form 4 transfer to you. He will usually charge $50.00 to $100.00 for this service.

Have the dealer (or you can) fax, e-mail, or mail his license F.F.L. (Federal Firearms License) and his S.O.T. (Special Occupational Tax) to us. Use this convenient form. Print it out, fill in the blanks, and give it to your dealer as a faxable coversheet.

We will transfer the gun to your local Class III dealer on ATF Form 3. This transfer will usually take between 2-4 weeks, depending on backlog at the BATF.

We ship to your Class III dealer upon form-3 approval. We will notify you when this happens.

Inspect your gun (at your dealer) within 5 days. If you are unsatisfied, we will have the gun returned to Impact. Refunds are issued after the firearm is back in our possession, less shipping and handling charges. A restocking fee may apply.

If you are satisfied, then the gun is transferred on a Form-4, from your dealer to you. This may take approx 90 days+, again depending upon the BATF and the FBI.

NFA items are Special Order items.? Payment must be made in full before transfer papers are submitted to B.A.T.F.E. Cancellations made before ATF papers arrive may incurr a restocking fee.
The process may at first sound complex, but we do A LOT of these and it is really quite easy!

With one of those you could always go carjack however many Porsches you wanted. . .

Unless the guy has an Uzi... There's a fairly active full auto group in the club I belong to, Albany Rifle & Pistol club. But you know, the guys who are into the old west shooting seem to have more fun. My guns are all "modern" stuff, sporting arms, so I don't do either. But yep, Dillon precision is the reload equipment of favor for the full auto guys. One guy I know told me he goes through about 30 pounds of powder in a year.

Shooting sports are like Porsches in a way...many different ways to play.

You probably wouldn't be able to sell the Porsche quick enough. That Thompson will probably be sold very quickly at that price.

You have to consider too, that there is always the slight chance (highly unlikely) that the law could be changed again to allow new machine guns to be manufactured for sale to the public. The price drop would be dramatic. It would be like the pre-1986 market again.

The current price situation actually creates a circumstance where some gun collectors -- those who have tens-of-thousands of dollars of value in their machine guns -- are actually opposed to any "gun friendly" laws making machine guns more available/affordable for the public again.

If you've just gone out and paid $20,000 for a machine gun, the last thing you want is a law that will make the price on your gun drop to $2000.

Good point...Guys, you only think Porsches are expensive as a hobby. Serious multi gun full auto fans have a ton of money tied up in the hobby. Even with reloading, the ammo $$$ are spent fast with a full auto piece. The UZI guys can eat 9mm faster than a skinny Japanese guy can wolf down Nathan's hot dogs...:)

As much as we wish it might happen, my hair would probably grow back before this law was changed. Those of us in the NRA are just trying to keep the laws the way they are, and not even working to retroactive anything with the full auto weapons.
