What is LimeWire?

Sometimes it's the music I imported. Sometimes it's a completely different list. Alot of Alan Jackson (I'm in Georgia), pop tunes, and old jazz. If my network drops, I pick up other folk's signal. If that's the case, someone else here has an affinity for Billie Holiday.

What exactly is LimeWire? Some kind of sharing thing?

LIme wire is a peer to peer file shareing app.

Remember downloading copyrighted music is Illegal.
:P

I'm new to the iPod and iTunes thing and it came installed on my iTunes. I've tried to drag some songs over but no go. All my music on there is on the "up and up" except for R. Kelly!

MIght i sugguest somthing called Tunebite.

I am not in to up and up...

;)

There are two major risks with Limewire:

-It automatically uploads all the files you have downloaded for sharing with other computers, taking all your uploading bandwith. Some ISP or network adminisatrtors hate this, for good reason.
-Many of the files you can get there are infected with viruses.

Limewire can tear your hard drive a new A-hole, from what they told me at the Apple store. It's a common computer-killer, filled w/ bad worms and to be avoided like the clap.

God, I miss Napster and the good old days of P2P downloading. Sigh....:(

napster and tunebite or Itunes and tunebite..

Ah....Joy of FREEdom

For windoze, use WinMX - none of the spyware/adware baggage.

It just "showed up" on my iTunes on the left side. It's part of iTunes, right? I'm showing my lack of IT knowledge underbelly. I'm getting back on my own network! Thanks!

Limewire blows - it's riddled with spyware, or at least the last version I saw was.

BitTorrent is the way to go.

pmajka 09-24-2006 05:32 AM

Lime wire is not part of Itunes AFAIK. If you dont need it, dump it.
If you want to mess with it, better have a top notch Virus software.

I recommend AVAST for virus software. Free for home use.

If you use bittorrent, you are making what you download very public. It isn't a protocol I would use for downloading anything I didn't want the RIAA to know about. Its great for large images like OSes etc. I would be pretty wary what you use it for.

Limewire will add a Playlist to the left side of iTunes, but it definitely is not part of the iTunes software.
