Question how to reset Toyota "maint. reqd."light

My wifes 2006 Toyota Corolla just turned 5,000 miles and the "maint. reqd." light on the dash has come on. I'm pretty sure this is a oil change reminder and I have done the oil and filter change but how do I reset the light? It's not the check engine light. Thanks

This may sound obvious, but have you checked your owner's manual?

I'm not sure about Toyota, but Acura/Honda outline the procedure in their manuals for resetting the Maintenance Required light that comes on at preset service intervals.

On those cars the process simply involves placing the the key in postion II and holding the reset button in the gauge cluster for 10 seconds to turn out the indicator. Toyota may be similar?

If you can't do it per the owners manual, maybe try an OBDII scanner? Pretty sure you can reset fault codes with them...and it'll be cheaper than taking it to the stealership!

Good luck,

Paul.

My wife's Highlander: Push the odometer reset button and hold it as you turn on the ignition for a few seconds.

My Accord: As Hugh says, push and hold the trip odometer button and hold it as you turn on the ignition for 10 seconds (as per manual)
