Thanks for fixing the radio I'll be right there to get it.

What a dick!

Man, its guys like that really piss me off.

Let us know what you do.

Seems like you should drop a few nuts into hard to reach body crevices before you return the car. Alumnium ones, that can't get extracted via magnet.

nostatic 09-27-2006 06:53 PM

write it off. Life is too short. Sorry man...people suck.

When I used to work in a shop there was a guy who pulled something like this on the owner one time.

The owner let it go then next time the guy tryed to set up some work my boss said he was too busy and said he should take his car elsewhere.

Echoing what others said, write it off.

You agreed to make the repair. Even though it was based on a fraudulent claim, you'll never get the owner to come clean or to pay up.

But I would not take a passive approach about refusing future work. I would tell him in very clear and certain terms to never, ever come back.

How did this turn out?

KevinP73 09-29-2006 07:02 AM

Jim came in and stuck with his claim that the radio was working when he dropped it off. I gave him his car and he left.
I didn't tell him to take his business elsewhere, I figure he's embarassed enough to not even think of coming back. But if he ever does I'm sure I'll be too busy to help him out.
End of story.

Make sure you're too busy sitting having a beer or shooting the ***** with friends. You're right, though - he's probably too embarassed to ever come back. What a prick.

The best choice Kevin...hassling with him could end up costing more than it's worth...

I am very sad to hear that

M.D. Holloway 09-29-2006 09:48 AM

I had my windshield replaced in my Volvo and there is a rattling sound in the vents now. I solve that problem by turning up the radio and the AC. Seriously.

(It most likely an acorn or some toy my kids throw at the car and it got stuck - I'm just too lazy to get at it).

KevinP73 09-29-2006 09:50 AM

Interesting fact (personal observation, no actual data to back it up) I've never been burned by anyone I have met here on PP. It has only been by Porsche owners that have come to me from recommendations or thru other means.

You might be surprised at the debri that works itself into defroster vents. Everything from loose coins to pencils and like you said , kids toys.

Part the car - when he comes in for it... what car you talking about?
