Exclamation 930 vs. CRAZY sport bike rider

Been busy sorting out post rebuild tuning stuff on my 930.
Car is unbelievably, hellaciously quick. Probably about 540 FWHP.

So.......on the freeway today. Blue 750cc sport bike in the lane next to me. I get on it, he does the same......hey..... I was just testing my car. Seriously. So now it's for fun, we both get on it ina big way, the 405 freeway is virtually empty. 930 pulls away.

Then:

THE GUY DOES A FREAKIN NEARLY VERTICAL WHEELIE AT 65 MPH FOR ABOUT 1 MILE.

HOLY COW!
Anyone ever seen this trick..........AT 65 MPH?????!!!!

Craig,

I live in Puyallup and commute to Seattle. At least twice a week I see groups of sportbikes doing insane things (ie) 100+ MPH threading the needle between cars, riding wheelies, standing on seats. I believe the saying goes "There are bold Bikers, there are old Bikers, but no old bold Bikers"

You should check out a few video's from " Ghost rider" near the end of the video you can get a clerer look at the speedo and he's still doing wheelie's . FWIW its in KM/H .

As for seeing it in real life... only a few times but I have never seen something as crazy as "Ghost rider". This guy would be mashed potato if he wiped out.

I've seen guys do it on the 5 freeway doing probably 95 to 100+. Guys were standing on their rear bumpers while doing wheelies at that speed. Plenty of cars around.

Organ donors is right.

Yeh I've seen that before. I managed to p!ss off a 650cc sports biker from the lights and he couldn't catch me. Tried real hard and ended up doing a wheelie accelerating too hard

He later came next to my window, shook my hand saying "your car is f*cking insanely quick mate!)

I ride a MC, which isn't geared/powered to wheelie at 65mph. (not that I would ever even think of riding a wheelie... and being amazed at the free floating feeling it entails...amazed that the flick of the wrist can adjust vertical position... nope, never tried it :-) ) The liter bikes are naturally geared to wheelie at around 65mph, with the GSXRs seeming to be the bikes of choice for the brain-power challenged.

but...I happened to be on the freeway one night when a bunch of stunt riders started doing what you're talking about...

Imagine ~10 guys standing on the tail of their bikes doing vertical wheelies for miles on end, at full 65-80 mph. It was funny when they'd go under the freeway overpasses because it would light up the underside of the concrete....

It was fun to see, but you can bet I wasn't riding right behind them, I don't want to get taken out by someone that stupid!

on a 911 note...a friend who rode a GSXR 750 told me about trying to roll-on with a 996 turbo that demolished him. I can't imagine that, as when I rode a GSXR 1000 on the freeway I could flick my wrist in 2nd gear and almost instantly go 120 with another 5000 rpm till redline... basically it's a ~350 pound machine with 185 hp

I hate to bust anyone's bubble but a newer '02 up GSXR 750 will run high 10's in the quarter. My bike stock '02 GSXR 1000 ran a 10.3 at 142. Going one tooth lower on the front sprocket yeilded a 9.9. It's all in the rider though.

I have no idea to be honest... never timed it at a drag strip. The run I had with the 650 was a rolling start. Let off gently in 1st and punched it at around 3.5-4Krpm... things happen very fast, but I'd guesstimate low 4s. A few secs later, I'm at the end of 3rd and WAY over the speed limit

So did you see the wheelie in the rearview mirror or did the guy catch up &/or pass you?

I admit I've never tested my 930 against with a bike. My car is fast but these sport bikers are:

a) very fast
b) very light
c) very certifiably insane.
