Any other fans of Medeski, Martin and Wood (MMW)?
MMW just released a new CD called "Out Louder" featuring guitarist John Scofield. I've been listening to iy on Real Rahpsody and I think it's the best stuff I've ever heard them perform. Any other MMW fans here?

I saw them in Ann Arbor a few years ago and I was amazed at what a trio (bass, drums and keyboard) can do! They are very, very talented and take jazz to places it's never been before...

Yep. Combustication was their last good album, IMO, but I'm willing to give this one a try.

Saw them in Ann Arbor on the Combustication tour and it blew my mind. They closed with "Hey Joe", it was practically a religous experience.
Saw them a year later (also in A^2) and they weren't nearly as good ![]() Keith Jarrett @ Hill Auditorium (w/Gary Peacock + Jack DeJohnette) Charlie Hunter @ Bird of Paradise Wayne Shorter @ The Michigan Theater (w/John Patitucci, Brian Blade) I think the Shorter show was the best actually, his whole quartet was on fire that night. Brian Blade was rediculous.

Count me in. In my former life I was a bit of an audiophile snob. Fortunately, I've outgrown that (expensive) habit (and traded it for this one). I spent many hours sitting in the "sweet-spot" just riveted by MMW. Just awesome.

I've been a fan of MMW for years, but their newest CD (Out Louder) is the best thing I've heard from them since Combustication. I'm glad there are some other MMW fans around here!

I saw them at Armadillo Days (at Northwestern?) in '96 or '97. To tell the truth, I don't remember much about that day.

I think they are at their best with John Scofield on guitar. John's guitar playing "really ties the group together"!
