Dubya: ignorant or liar?
Yesterday, Dubya met with his "personal friends" Musharraf and Nazarbayev.
Only a couple of years ago, 'freedom and democracy' was the mission of the US in the middle east. Both of these 'friends' are basically tyrants. Suppressing opposition voices and refusing to allow elections. Musharraf's version of the CIA -- the ISI -- is strongly suspected of ties to Osama bin Laden. Pakistani forces have been less than energetic in rooting out al Qaeda in their country, and a government official recently stated that OBL, if found, would be allowed to live there, undisturbed if he 'promised to lead a peaceful life.' At a state dinner with Karzai and Musharraf last night, cooperation to 'defeat extremists' was discussed, but no agreement reached. But "President Musharraf is a courageous leader and a friend of the United States" according to Dubya. With friends like these... |

I think he should have called them both ass hats then dropkicked em out the front door. Certainly you would have approved.
In other news W had Cheerios this morning....what a fukcing igronant loser. |
He's a politician so he's automatically a liar, so I'm voting for "ignorant".
Just keep in line, chanting "Clin-ton's fault. . . Clin-ton's fault. . ." over and over and remember to swallow the blue pill, not the red one. B.S. diatribe from Mullhollandflintstone, toobra and/or snowwoman coming in 5-4-3-2. . . |
While I'm not a Republican, I am always amazed at the abuse Bush takes. If Bush avoids meeting and making nice with the leaders of less than reputable nations (Iraq, Iran, North Korea, for example) he is bastardized as a non-diplomatic leader who can't find a solution other than war. If he meets with these tyrants and tries to get them to reform their countries, he still is kicked in the balls by associating with non-democratic dictator cronies. Maybe we should bring back Clinton as almost everyone liked him (I did).

I had to search wikipedia to see who Nazerbeyev is.. they're not too complimentary of him either.
Still, dialogue between world leaders is important, and I'd much rather see dialogue than what happened last week, where Bush and the Iranian leader avoided each other at the UN. Each country is different, and are evolving from different histories so communication is the key to understanding. |

But embracing tyrannical dictators as 'personal friends' is a bit over the top. Especially when they express support for public enemy #1. |

Like Len said, I guess you wanted Bush to have dinner with them and then call them ignorant asshat terrorist supporters during the news conference? During the Cold War, the US President would still shake hands with the Russian leader. It seems like you look at every single thing Bush does and say "God, what the hell is he thinking?" This time he did it correctly. I guess if Bush had not met with either of them he would be accused of being isolationist and not reaching out to our allies in the world... |

I will have to remember this thread the next time I hear lefties whine about how terrorist detainees are being treated. Funny Shiite!!! |
How are detainees related to this? Are you saying all the Gitmo detainees worship OBL?
