Question Question for audiophiles/ building listening room/acoustic treatments?

I have the ability to build a small listening room on a budget inside a larger space. Because the right and left walls will have to be accessible they will most likely be hung with heavy curtains although I could possibly hang sliding doors if necessary. Is there a standard formula for the application of sound reflecting/refracting/absorbing materials on the floor/ceiling/walls (front, back and side)? The room would be approximately 12 foot across by 18 foot deep with a 10 foot ceiling. The system would be a low watt tube amp with high efficiency speakers.

Thanks,
Scott

does the room require some sort of look , or is it form over function you're aiming at?

Totally function orientated, I have a large storage room and I have moved/sold/thrown away enough crap to build a small listening room of the dimensions I gave.

Thanks,
Scott

Garage
first soudn proof from outside noise
then cover the bugger in that pyramid insulation foam sound isolation

pick your spot where you wanna sit

position speakers accordingly

and test, you can always add panels for sound tweaking if it's to dull... just like photographers use white panels to tweak teh lighting...

wouldnt' go to small: surround works better if there's room
