Euro Trip

Just got back from Europe. Did a few days outside of Dover and then went haul-assing around France, Germany, Luxembourg and southern Belgium for a week doing the war piggy tour....lol. Actually, hauling ass amy be a misnomer. I was supposed to have a Mercedes C class 220 diesel or a "comparable car". In Calais, a "comparable car" means a disel Citroen C5....lol. Actually, it was a rather nice little road car and got great mileage, but had a bit of body roll at 110-115 mph...lol. I went to Normandy and then to Champagne. Saw the D-Day stuff and then went to Verdun. Most of us Yanks don't know enough about WW1. Standing in a building where the skeletal remains of 130,000 unknown soldiers sit right under your feet will certainly get your attention. By the way, I like France a LOT once again.....went to Paris last year....yuck!!!! New York with pit hair!!!The rest of the country appears to be pretty damn cool. I have seen the polls about how they don't like americans, but they must be polling Parisians, because i was treated VERY well by everyone. Heidelberg was an interesting experience. I hadn't been for 20 years and in that time, the newer partof the city has become heavily Arab. (recent arrivals and not the Turks who have been living there for a long time). Kinda strange. Not sure what attracted them to a rather pricey college town. i managed to drive over to Hockenheim and they happend to be havinga viontage race weekend. I got to check out some cool old cars. Not too many p-carson the track, but a lot in the parking lot. I saw an old school Alpine Renault racer. Neat car. They had one race where everyone was riding vintage late 60's and early 70's bnikes, including some pretty pricey MV's, Benelli's and bevel drive Ducatis. Al in all, I had a great time and can't wait to go back.
