The Republican Party has returned to its' roots with George W. Bush. It was not founded on low taxes and smaller government, but precisely the opposite. The Republican Party was founded to further corporate welfare, as outlined in Henry Clay's "American System".

Irving Kristol is the father I referred to in my earlier post. His son Richard (?) is the conservative commentator connected with the National Review.
I saw Irving Kristol interviewed a few years ago--I believe the neocon movement started in the 80s as a reaction of some male liberals against affirmative action, which has made racial and gender discrimination legal. They are also still fighting the Cold War.
