What are your states knife laws?
I am a little disturbed that I just ordered two folding knifes with four inch blades and I carry a four inch folding buck knife in the center console of my car. Not so much for defense but more so as a tool.
When shopping on the Internet I saw "California legal carry knifes" and find out we are now limited to two and a half inch's! Maybe I am an old dog but I thought we were allowed a four inch blade in Cali but perhaps the laws have changed since I was a kid? Being a middle aged white boy with no police record I'm not too concerned about getting arrested (not saying that is right just that's life in the big city) although there are some interesting loopholes such as any law enforcement, peace officer, or EMT etc. are exempt... I wonder if I signed on as a sheriff reserve or something like that I would get a free pass? Anyhoo I'm sure you guys that live in states that allow you to carry guns also are allowed to carry just about any knife you like but are any other states/countries limited to two and a half inch blades? And let the Kaliforna bashing begin!

I'm not sure of the laws in California anymore but I use to go to a lot of the Blade, and Knifes showes in So. Cal when I use to live there. At one of the shows an Arizona dealer told me how he was arrested at John Wayne Airport for having so many knives with him. He bailed out in a few hours but still had to explain to a judge on Monday what he was up to. Here in Kentucky almost anything goes and I think you can get a permit for a machine gun.
I miss alot of things in So. Cal and some other things I will never miss...hehe

In Texas, if someone attacks you with a knife, you can shoot them with a gun. That's all I need to know about knifes.

While I lived in CA I frequently consulted Peace officers' guide to California's dangerous weapons laws: 101 concepts dealing with the possession, display, and use of dangerous weapons and firearms which I found very illuminating. There are a great many ordinary weapons that can land you in jail there.
I should find my copy and sell it, to someone still there. It's somewhat out of date because the anti-self defense laws have grown, but it's still informative I think. It was written by a cop in north San Francisco Bay area I think, specifically to train cops. |

Laws & regulations can get stupid. A recently retired pilot friend of mine was one of those who had a firearm in the cockpit. But woe to him if he dared to carry a pocket knife. Tell me how that makes sense...

in the PDRoNJ we can't have knives...even nail clippers/scissors can be a charge of a concealed weapon

Interesting, it appears that concealed weapons of any kind are lawful in South Carolina on your own property and in the lockable glove compartment of your car. A concealed carry permit covers carry everywhere else except listed prohibited places; schools, hospitals, government buildings, and posted business locations.

This is so stupid because a long time ago the bad guys here in Cal figured out that a screwdriver is a very efficient stabbing device.
