Killer Video One Lap GT3
|
I'd be interested to see the car with the camera - he was gaining ground in several places.
|
Sweet video. My guess about the chase car is that it was a GT2, CGT, or maybe a turbo, but that seems less likely.
|
Motor of the chase car (that's the motor your listening to--not the orange GT3 RS in front), sounds like a flat-6. I've never heard a CGT driven in anger, but would the V10 sound the same? I also don't hear any pfft of any turbocharger blowing off. The GT2s I've heard seem to do that. I heard a couple instances of tire squeal coming out of tight corners--do the AWD Turbos do that as much So why couldn't the chase vehicle be another GT3?
|
Yeah that chase car doesn't sound like the V-10.
|
The car in front does slide around a bit on some of the corners, so an equal car driven quickly instead of slidey would catch up after the corners. The chase car could be another GT3 RS.
I'm particularly interested in the straight at the end of the video where it seems the chase car has to back off to avoid passing. I'm not sure about the sound we're hearing though. We hear the tire squeal of the car in front, so I'd be surprised if it were a different engine we're hearing. I would have guessed the microphone is located in the lead car. |
For sure not a V10.
Are you guys sure that is not the engine from the lead car? to me, it looks like the video is from the rear car, but the audio is from the front car. It follows the shifts, power on oversteer etc. perfectly. The chase car is a fraction behind that........just my opinion :) DAMN sweet ride! -Chris |
I'm certain the audio is from the chase car. There is one corner, in particular, where the lead car is on the brakes, yet the audio is of a car still heavy on the throttle. Not blipping downshifts, but heavy on the throttle.
|
The graphic shows that the car is only hitting 208 kph on the straight which is approx 125 mph, visually it seems to be faster than that.
Sweet sound though.:p |
Could the chase car be another GT3 RS?
I had the opportunity to toss a GT3 around an Autocross course and wished I had put my camera on it. It was an amazing ride and I still owe the owner a drive in my 911, which he went nuts over when I told him about it. I was more suprised how easy it was to control it when the rer end got out of shape. Yes, I drove it in anger trying to beat my RX-7's times on the course. The first time I stepped out the rear I was scared that I was about to experience the rear engine 911 pendulum. It just was not there it felt as balanced as my 50/50 RX-7 and I could easily pull the rear back in with proper steering and throttle. I wish I could afford one it was the most memorable drive I ever had in a car. |
great video.
