Jimi Hendrix... revisited.

I loaded a Hendrix CD in this morning on my way to work, thinking this might be a bit much in the early morning for a 53 year old ? It wasn't, his music still gets to me.

I replayed Voodoo Child several times wondering what it was this Rocker had going on ??

I think I'll dig out my Band of Gypsies CD for tomorrow :D

Comments welcome, :)

I found this in a search.

Don't forget Janis Joplin's "Pearl" album...

My favorite Hendrix tune is Castles Made of Sand. Gives me goosebumps every time.

Hey Joe

I still haven't met someone who can both play that song on guitar and sing at the same time.

There's Jimi, and then there is EVERYONE else. Still amazing so long after we lost him. Seattle's best contribution to civilization as a whole.

Jimi was a f***ing alien. That's all there is to it. He didnt die. He went home..

Nobody plays like Jimi did! My youngest daughter, who plays an electric guitar, is dressing up as Jimi Hendrix for Halloween.

"All Along the Watchtower". Enough said.

try watching his Woodstock Performance on shrooms or lsd

adds a whole new dimension..., but if watching it from the Woodstock DVD, make sure to FF when the porto potty scene comes by , or the cleanup scene... both just give nasty vibes when spaced out...

Jimi playing Isle of Wight...about 4 to 8 minutes into Machine Gun allmost makes the Guitar talk... Band of Gypsies...Who Knows...

I also have Jimi jamming with Traffic in concert....

Chas Chandler said, "Thers a reason why Jimi was so good, who do U know that would take a guitar and play on the toilette." Also Jim wouldn't miss a chanch to watch any band play no matter how bad to see if he could pick up a riff. Jimi went on before the Who at Monterey in 67.. Pete Townsend said, "how could we compete with him, Jimi did our act."

Nobody has surpassed Jimi...

43 years ago next week, or somewhere around there, I was in the Peppermint Lounge in NYC, dropped off for a few hours by my parents, to see Joey Dee and the Starlighters and the Peppermint Twist. Hendrix was a Starlighter, but during the break, he was Hendrix. An expansion of my mind took place. Then my older brother got a townhouse in the village on St. Lukes Place. He and his roommates were travelling auditors and mostly gone and I was there a lot. Hendrix was in a club not too far. He just got more and more amazing. Thanks for a happy flashback.

No one....and I mean no one (Led Zeppelin was close though) played the blues like Jimi. Listen to "Red House" again one of these days. It'll make you weep.

Band of Gypsies just floors me. There are parts where I have to stop what I'm doing and sit down.

Another great one is the Jimi Hendrix: Blues compilation from a few years ago... lots of fantastic acoustic blues.

Live at Winterland is one of my favorites.

Jimi was and still is the best.

I've been to his grave site several times. To this day there are always flowers and various memorabilia scattered about; lots of guitar picks.

Manic Depression.

Band of Gypsies. As good as Noel and Mitch were the Experience stuff seemed to lack the "polish" of Gypsies. Not saying Experience was not great, just think it could have been tighter.

There is new documentary on VH1 on Hendrix and another on Janis.

Have lots of unseen footage and a lot of interviews with people that played on stuff with Jimi. I never knew that Steve Winwood and Jack Cassady played on the early Vodoo Child sessions.
