Another math ??, this one can hit home
If you weight 180 pounds and you are racing your Porsche at 135 MPH and hit the wall at the CA Speedway, how much force is on the 5 point harness. Assume worst case with a wall angle or 90 degrees or so.

we need to know how much kinetic energy is lost in this partially inelastic collision. Unless you know how much energy is absorbed by the car when you wad the thing up, no one can tell you the answer.

I don't really think it matters. let's just say it's enough force to ruin your whole day

Re: Another math ??, this one can hit home
I'm no physicist but I know that it depends on how long it took you to stop. It's those sudden stops that kill you.

My follow up question regarding this math problem:
Q: What's the last thing that goes through your head in that situation? A: The windshield. Ducking for cover... -Z |

energy = 1/2 mass times velocity squared. Insert what ever other parameters that you want. You died, just like my friend John Goss did at Riverside in 1983 in his Aston Martin DB4GT.
