idiotic problem with ActiveX and Gmail
Gmail keeps telling me that all ActiveX controls need to be enabled for it to work. all conceivable ActiveX controls are turned on and it still does not work (other than in basic HTML). has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Firefox.

:p

Seriously, I can't stand using Gmail with Safari. The IM component doesn't work, it hangs periodically...Firefox not only works great but has a plug-in to let you monitor/manage multiple Gmail accounts.

hmm, the plot thickens. keep up the logical argument and I just might change. how much HD space does Firefox use?
|
ronin- a few megs. teh download is like 11mb or so... as a bonus, there is a portable firefox that you can keep on a USB thumbdrive thingie so you can use it with your preferences, bookmarks, plugins, etc. on many different machines.

cool. finally a worthy use for my thumb drive. looks like I'll be making some changes tonight

thanks again! Gmail worked fine for years and all of a sudden...
let's see what Mozilla can do for us |
Also, by turning off activex and javascripting, you'll be surfing a little more securely.

And don't forget your "Recommended Add-ons".
My favorite is GSpace, which allows you to use your GMail space as file storage, with a Windows Explorer type interface. Recommended Add-ons Randy edit: The link for GSpace. |
rcecale - nice to see its been ported to windows.... gmailfs has been available for a while now for us Linux users.... :)

well, so far so good. Gmail works normally once again, and gee whiz wouldn't ya know it, I'm suddenly able to download a file from hotmail which IE tried to convince me just wasn't available and that I should "try again later..."
