This is a good story:

Quote:
Animal Act
Several years ago, I worked in a gourmet restaurant in a Las Vegas casino. As some as you may know, there is a famous magic act performed around town by a couple of freaks of nature. Let's call them Ziegfield & Joy. Well, these two guys were true #1 A-Holes. And we had to make them their food every day. Their butler would call in the order around 3 pm, and the food had to be made, put on a silver platter (yes it had to be silver!), and room service would come pick up the food. These guys would order stupid things like Ossobuco a half hour before they wanted it. (Ossobuco takes 12 hours to cook.)

One day we were getting slammed, and those guys kept demanding potatoes every half hour; we would send the food up, only to have more immediately demanded. I lost it, grabbed the cooked potatoes, went into the walk-in, pulled down my pants, and rubbed my testicles all over them. Then I put the potatoes on their silver platter, garnished it, and gave the tray to the room service waiter.

I am not proud of what I did and would never do a thing like that again, even if pushed worse. But, somehow I felt those guys had already had that flavor in their mouths before...

A couple of years later, I was talking to a friend of mine, told him this story, and he told me a VERY similar story about another famous person. (His famous song is "Brown Eyed Girl"; let's call him Ban Gorrison.)

So, it does not matter how famous you are or how much money you have.
If you're an *******, your food will get f**ked with.

Yikes...

quite a few years ago i was the floating manager for a steak house chain called beefsteak charlies. i was in one of the larger units in connecticut on a busy friday night when a family of four walked in. from the time they entered the place the father was yelling at the two kids and his wife. once they were seated he began to rag on the server and the busboy , nothing could please this man , when he wasn't yelling at the staff he would go back to giving his wife and kids a hard time.
by now there are people asking if they could get moved to another table far away from this guy. eventually the server, a very sweet and friendly young lady, was reduced to tears by the constant grief that was being given her by this gentleman. now i am vehemently opposed to tampering with anyones food. i just don't think that is an option, but when he paid his bill with an amex card i kept one of the carbon copies and a couple of months later called amex and told them, reading from the carbon, "my name is _____________and my card # is _________ , my wallet is gone and my card with it, could you please cancel the card."
now i couldn't be there for the occasion that he next used his card , but i do know that somewhere he must have been told that the card he was presenting was a stolen card. it was the least that i could do.

A friend of mine worked at an airline counter in LA. A famous (and very nasty) local lawyer was checking in to a flight to Chicago. He insulted everyone and complained about flying "commercial". Wanted to be comped into 1st class, but 1st class was full. He couldn't even buy a 1st class seat. He called my friend a moron. My friend smiled, said "yes, sir" and checked his bags to Chicago (by way of Nairobi).

i've read several of those stories, and frankly i find em not so funny
these are waiters that are taking revenge for petty things

i used to be a waiter and in Europe we do not have the prescribed tip rule, you get a tip ,when you made the custome truly happy

well, i got more tips then salary... i made almost as good net money then as i do now in IT , yes i did pull more hours

either way , some of these stories to me have no warrant , they brag about incompetence , ignorance, and even blatant fraud...

the things they did were not just pranks some of em were nasty , such as the laxative trick...

A -don't complain about a customer walking in close to closing
it comes with the territory , deal with it

if a customer comes in late, he is no different then a customer who comes in early ... if you don't want em to come in, don't leave the door open... if you're boss tells you you have to untill a certain hour. then take it up with your boss

B if you didn't get a tip , well that's not a problem of your customer, that's a problem of your job... it should never be a mandatory thing for a customer to calculate your tip... if you can't make due without tips.. then be better at getting them, or get another job...

Stijn I agree with you totally, in Australia there is no "compulsory" tipping, but I think in the US tipping is practically compulsory. I know friends who have been to the US would get abused if they forget to tip anyone, from the doorman, to the taxi driver. I'm sure the Americans can confirm this or not.
