building codes fine, BUT suing the builder because they didn't put up a 10 foot sign saying if you jump you could get hurt...no. And in my opinion that's what the liberals do. Allow for silly lawsuits and other damaging things like that.

The jumper says hey, it's not my fault why should I be responsible for my actions. I'll get some liberal lawyer and judge to give me money.

Exactly.

The truth in your words seems SO obvious to sane people...

And there you go with nonsensical made up examples with no factual basis to promote a stereotype.

examples where "liberals" pushed for the 10 foot sign?

So the lady who was burned by the 190 degree McDonald's coffee should have realized it was that hot?

Are you actually saying she deserved six million(or whatever it was) dollars?

And are you saying that she should not have had the common sense to know that yes....HOT COFFEE is....HOT?

And are you denying that product liability labels abound precisely because of the TLA- a political lobbying group that is also one of the DNCs greatest contributers?

If i spill hot coffee on myself i SCREAM and call myself an idiot.
Apparently in your world if i spill hot coffee on myself it's the fault of whoever gave it to me, and i should sue them for their trouble!

LOL.....

red-beard 11-07-2006 03:32 PM

If it had been any cooler, she would have sued them for cold coffee.

Damn. 3 double espressos and I'm wired!

yes, my example is made up, but all you have to do is look at every warning lable on most any product to see that it's not that far from the truth.

Another Real World example: From Franconia Insurance newsletter.
burglar breaks into a house to collect the homeowner’s valuables. In the process he meets an aggressive dog that recognizes him as an intruder and defends the owner’s property. After being seriously bitten, the burglar goes to the hospital where he is arrested for breaking and entering. However, upon seeking legal counsel, the burglar sues the homeowner for pain and suffering as a result of being bitten by what he claims is a vicious and ill-tempered dog. The case goes to
court and the burglar wins.

I once owned a gas-powered lawnmower that had a warning not to pick it up and use it as a hedge trimmer. Any guesses why that warning label was there?

What has Cliff Edges ever done to them?

Jeff Higgins 11-07-2006 05:02 PM

He started getting edgier as Cliff Notes got supplanted by the internet, and finally reached the point where no one wanted to take the fall with him, hence the caution.

J/K

And as I'm sure you know, not all environmentalists are lefties. Some of us came from heavily polluted states where drinking the water from your own faucet could make you sick.

But anyway, I clearly recall when lefties used the term "political correctness" as an insult against fascists on the left. I can't even fathom how it became a badge of honor.

I thought that was just being married.
