The Republican Diebold CEO rigged the election so Dems would win!
Obviously, the Democrats took the House and possibly the Senate due to the insidious machinations of the Evil Diebold Plan (tm) plan, which I will now summarize:
1) At the request of Democrats, who lost in '00 and '04 under circumstances they consider fraudulent, the Feds do an RFP to develop an electronic voting system. (Talking-point refrain: "the Republicans had it all planned out ahead of time! They knew they wanted Diebold! The biding process was a sham!") 2) Diebold contracts and develops said system, with a total cost of $2B and counting. (Talking-point refrain: "Sole-source contract! Managed by Republican crooks! Others never got a real chance to bid! The Diebold CEO said he wanted to help Bush! Plus, why is it so damn expensive? Firefox is FREE!") 3) The '08 election is run, using electronic voting in approx 1/3 of districts. There are some problems, which need to be fixed, and should have been fixed before now. But, according to McClatchy, the systems are generally working OK. The votes are voted, the poles polled. (Talking-point refrain: "they're not working OK if they don't work for you! Rigged! Disenfranchisement! Long lines in minority neighborhoods! Recount!") 4) The '08 election is by all accounts a Democratic victory. (Talking-point refrain: "The Diebolderatti must have caused this outcome in an effort to position the GOP for '12. Be careful, everyone. They are OUT...TO...GET...US!") Chorus (sing to the melody of They Might Be Giants' classic "Istanbul Not Constantinople"): Halliburton! Enron! Oil Buddies! Closed-door Sessions! They're so Stupid! Yet they're so Clever! Corruption on a massive scale! Stealing elections! The GOP will do anyting to stay in power! Wait...we WON? All hail Speaker Pelosi! The smoothest face in the House!  And yes, I have been up almost all night watching election returns. Thanks for asking.

Ummm....won what?
A historic national deficite? A botched foreign agenda? A chance to clean up the mess? It's like getting a free Chrysler on Opra for which $10k in taxes are due, or an unflushed "present". A fair electoral process is sooo cliche these days, ohmygod.
