Mazda B3000

Anyone know anything about these? My dad has one he said i could take with 80k on it. I am wondering what issues i should expect to find and what is coming up for maintenace issues. i think it is a 96. Runs nice but has a ticking coming from the engine.

Thanks,

David

I believe by '96 they were just ford rangers with Mazda logos. Decent trucks.

I have a 94 b4000 that the engine just gave up at just under 340K. I think the 3000 is the same engine family, just different displacement.

It's basically a Ford Ranger, with slightly different styling and Interior options. Drive train is all Ford.

My biggest complaint is mine had the "twin I beam" ford suspension that got a little loose, and it's had a shimmy I couldn't find for the last few years. The later models got away from that, not sure about a 96. And the Power windows seem a little weak, I've left mine up for fear of not getting it back up at times.

So no timing belt to worry about replacing? It is a 96.

If it's the one with the twin plug 4 cyl, they hold up pretty damn well
