America is still a conservative country...

Or so is the quote from Senator John McCain last night after the elections. I highly trust McCain's opinions and insight. But is this true? Is America still conservative? Personally, I think it is. I also believe the sole difference with American politics after last night is America will no longer use conservatism as a war cry or to push self-centered agendas.

Thoughts on this topic...

You know, you're right. They do look alike. Dean has a whiny voice, though.

It's true in many areas, but that also depends on the definition of conservative.

The magazine "The American Conservative" has a great deal of insight on this question, particularly their current issue, the primary subject of which is the "Death of Conservatism".

You ought to subscribe to this magazine, it's very insightful on the basic American psyche.

http://www.amconmag.com/ The issue depicted today is not the current issue, it's last month's.

Dean reminds me of Leave it to Beaver and Dennis the Meance.

McCain I am sorry to say is in bed with Gerge Soros...Soros was a big backer of McCain- Feingold and the Gun Control group that McCain was flirting with.

Not to mention that McCain's is a running mental heath issue.

I believe most 'mericans are somewhat conservative on some issues and somewhat liberal on others as I think I am, i.e. a moderate. However in the last 10 years the neocons have pushed the bar of the conservative movement so far to the right that anyone who thinks they are a moderate appears as a wild-eyed liberal to them. Are we still a conservative country? Probably, just not a neo-con conservative country. For the future of the republic, I hope that movement is dead and buried but perhaps we should drive a stake just to be sure.

DeLay is dead, long live Delay....

I used to consider McCain worthwhile but he's turned into a GOP mouthpiece lately. I assume he's trying to solidify his base for 2008 but that's no excuse for pandering.

BTW even the USA's furthest left doesn't hold a candle to the communists in the EU. Those guys are so far to the left they've wrapped around once or twice...

Oh well, maybe there'll be a real Libertarian candidate in 2 years....yeah right.
