iPod rant
 

I am very disapointed with the Military Exchange stores and Apple and the return/repair/warranty system.

1. My iPod is under warranty (6 months old)
2. Apple replacement program does not support servicemembers overseas at APO FPO address.
3. Local Military Exchange does not deal with iPod returns/repairs beyond 15 days after purchase.

You see the delima?

So in my frustration I call iPod Germany and do my best to get my point accross that I live in Germany but have a US purchased iPod. My goal was to get a service center in Germany to replace it...and all be damn it worked. :) I need to drive 1 hour to the nearest center but they did tell me they will replace it under warranty.

So all in all it's pretty much a dead subject, other than the fact that I had to jump through hoops and the two organizations that should have helped just kicked me to the curb.

Moral of the story...they **** you at the drive through. lol

At least you were able to get it replaced. I always find it a bit weird when places won't send to APO/FPO addresses.

thanks...it's all about the damn customs form, it's so difficult to fill out the little 3x3 sheet of paper. I am going tomorrow to Saarbrucken and attempt to find the Apple Store....oh look another excuse to drive the 911. =o)

thanks Dave...Apple is quick to say that less than 1% of the iPods are defective. I am so special to have one. lol

Maybe you should keep the defective iPod. If they're that rare, they may one day be collectibles.

UPDATE: So I drive the 90 some kilometers to Saarbrucken to find the Apple store...not a simple feat even with GPS.

They take my very rare les than 1% defective iPod and run a few tests...yep it's defective. No ****....geez I feel better now that they agree.

Then I am told I need to come back in 3 or 4 days to get the new iPod. Damn.
