Will a moving violation in Michigan, show up on my driving record
Got a ticket in a construction zone in Michigan this week, got a ticket for 50 in a 45.
I think the City cop, saw my out of state plates, and when he asked why I was in Michigan from California, there was no discussion about my speeding. So will this show up as a point on my record? Michael |
Most likely yes because these days most all states DMV databases are linked
|
You are in luck, Mich is a " non compact " state , they do not honor other states point system and as a non member they are unable to report your violation to your home state as well.
You can find out more info by doing a search under drivers license compact with google or any of the other search engines. Info only : CA is also a non compact state as well so they don't honor the point systems either, There are currently six states that are non-compact ones. T  |
Almost certainly. Gotta' love big brother.

Looks like k9 is correct, or lets hope!

Where in Michigan were you traveling?
Were there workers present in the construction zone? |
I was outside of Kalamazoo, and yes!
|
What crock!!! Yeah, it must have been your plates.
Well, at least it won't show up on your license in CA. The fines are doubled in construction zones, do you know what it is yet? |
He told me it was triple fines, I was on the highway and got busted by a city cop.
You guys had great weather this week. Michael |
That's weird but sometimes the city boys do double duty as troopers.
Thursday was gorgeous. I was in Grand Rapids for a business class and had to spend the entire day inside. DOH!! Oh, yeah, it's like freakin' 25 degrees outside right now. yay Tommorow should be better, though. 45degrees and sunny. Stupid weather. |
You will have points on your CA license. Don't ask how I know, but I do.

Found this FAQ on the MI SOS site.
http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-24451-88474--F,00.html I don't know if it answers your question but it sure looks like the states communicate. Bastards!!!! |
Hmmmm strange , it appears from Wayne's link to the web site that Mich will in fact honor other states point systems even though they are not a "compact" state.
Let me know what ever happens, just professional interest, hopefully you make out point wise. Todd SmileWavy |
Trust me, MI does communicate with the other states...
I had my license revoked in WI way back at the end of my college years. I knew the license was going bye-bye but thought nothing of it as I was moving to MI for my first real job. Moved to MI before my WI court date and received my MI license. Fast forward 10+years. I go to the Secretary of State office last month to renew my license...uh no. You need to contact WI and take care of the revocation there before we will allow you to renew your MI license. Up until this year, my little WI driving issues never haunted me. Fortunately I only had to pay a $50 re-instatement fee with WI and I was back on the road in MI. |
