News flash folks...IT IS A DOG!!!

All you people who are trying the "let the dog do what it wants, it's only showing ownership...you guys need to stop obsessing about these things" need to catch a clue. I have two kids and I wouldn't want my dog licking a one year old to death. In the grand scheme of things people>>>dogs. If the dog has a behavior problem that the owner finds to be an issue, then the dog needs to change its behavior.

American Bulls are the "Spuds McKinsie" type dogs from the old Bud ads. Mostly very nice but the occasional one can be aggressive. The 'real' pit bulls, so to speak, are Saffordshire Terriers for the most part.

OK, then I have misled on the name. Hang on and I'll post a pic. She is not a "Spuds" dog. My vet is the one that told me what she was, I got her as a stray nine years ago.

Get a cat. Have the dog chew the cat instead of the kids. Works great for me. My puppy loves it although the cat has a few issues with it...

Seriously, we have trained our puppy with a spray bottle with a little lemon/water mix. Works great. The tongue grab only works if they are licking you. Kids/girls don't seem to be up for this technique. For chewing we put a little Tabasco on the offending item. Dog does not chew for long

What is Bad behavior in a dog? Somethng that we determine that we don't like?

If U asked me Dogs treat Humans far better than Humans treat Dogs. They love U unconditional, they will give their all to please U, and they will give their lives protecting their family. So when U take a dog into your house you are taking on a NEW family member, that should be given the respect and integrity as any other family member. As far as licking the kids goes that such a MINOR problem if U can consider it a problem at all, in light of the fact that, that Dog would give its life protecting those children.

Human Beings are miserable creatures that HAVE fked up everything they have ever touched. Yet they have the arrogance to think that they ar superior to anyother living creature on the planet. Men have no more right than anyother living creature on this planet, and should act accordingly.

my 6 year old border collie insists on licking me between my upper lip and nose upon greeting me when I get home. If I avoid him or appear busy, he just waits for a more opportune moment.

He's big on sniffing people's faces to get to know them, and as he is large and wolfish for a border collie, it sometimes unnerves people who don't really know him.

Big chompy wolf teeth and eyes too.

Yep!! You got it!

Is it really all that complicated? Shall we also let our parakeets poop all over the house? I know, let's let our cats drag dead mice through the house and eat them. It's only natural after all. What about leg humping? Well, wait a sec...Tabby might be into leg humping...who knows. Better leave that one alone.

Oh Yeah... he's a killer... just waiting for his chance to rip you to shreds!

The grabbing the tongue trick worked for me also however I don't know how successful you will be a teaching it to a one and two year old child.

Nope. Your dog is being dominant. Licking is a form of communication, and also a form of identity.

There are some nasty sprays for this purpose, green apple and such, that are quite bitter and unpleasant. Is he a Labrador. Hope not. Sometimes Labs learn to like the bitter stuff.

Steve you have been on fire as of late! I love it, you are quickly becoming the "Dr. Phil" of PPOT on how to get these guys wives to start axen propper like. I wish I could recall your last hammer of a guys wife, I think it was the one where Chris Paterno (cantdrv55) had to go to ball room dancing lessons. Keep up the good work my man!

"Yet, my roommate's dog still barks whenever I am in the room. I have been spraying a combination of water and hot sauce in it's face when the roommate is away. She stays away from me now"

I cut and paste nostril cheese's quote above to further comment.

WTF dude? No wonder the dog barks at you, i hope it bites your ace sooner instead of later. if it was the right thing to do id think you'd do it while the owner was home too, right? i hope that was just an outrageous PPOT statement for shock value, because if not you are a jackass.

Good here. I need to come hang out and watch. Can't really see tracking my car yet. Insurance is a big issue and with the recent semi resto I don't wanna prang the thing. Still treasure how it looks....but that track experience looks so damn cool. I do still remember your nice offer but you may have changed jobs.

(Sorry for the OT here guys)
