Tough Looking Crowd

We read and hear a lot about Iraqi's, sometimes we may even forget what they look like.

Some of these guys have a mean stare, don't you think?

http://www.defendamerica.mil/photoessays/oct2006/p061018b2.html

More than 1,500 Iraqi soldiers who were absent without leave return to duty after reporting to Camp Habbaniyah between Sept. 20 and Oct. 1. The Iraqi defense ministry offered dispensation to those who went AWOL, attracting entire families back to the fighting forces. U.S. Marine Corps photo

Some of them don't look to excited about their pictures being taken I'll say that much. The guy up front with the pale turquoise sweater wraped around his neck looks like he wants to kill.

I think you're being a little dramatic; he just looks like anyone would who is living in the worst schithole on the planet and has the projected lifespan of a mesquito, thanks to our brilliant foreign policy. You've never been around any scary, murderous people if that guy is your example.

He fought for Saddam and now we are putting a gun in his hands and asking him to cover our back.

I have no reason to be worried, do I?

Where do you get the idea that he "fought for Saddam"?? Are you aware that the entire Iraqi military was disbanded by us, and that the term "Iraqi soldier" refers to people recruited and trained since our occupation?

Even if he was in Saddam's army, I wouldn't really give a shake. 95%+ of them were conscripted troops w/ all of the fight of a wet noodle in them. Have you forgotten the "Mother of all surrenders" in 1991?

At any rate, these are current Iraqi soldiers who went AWOL, just wandered away kicking rocks. The whole thing is a big joke, except it's not funny.

True, I don't care who they fought for or when if ever. If it takes part of the work load off the US solider I'm all for it.

I don't think Bremmer should of disbanded the Iraqi army to begin with - that was a big mistake,

So, you can assume that some are on the Sadr payroll anyway, the others would betray our troops for 25 cents more , someone just turn off the lights over there, and call it a day. I would /could not trust a one of them.

What?

That's not true.

I don't think there is a generalization that fits.

Follow the money may fit.

I missed seeing the movie about that.
