Canadian Grand Prix
Thinking of getting a pair of tickets for 2007 Canadian Grand Prix for girlfriend's birthday. Too bad she's a big Schumi fan, right about last year would have been perfect, but oh well. I'm thinking of going for either stand 11 or 12, but I might just spring up for stand 2 in front of the pits. Any suggestions?

Hey there Won... we met at the Vancouver Pelicanite lunch/weigh-in a while ago.
Anyway, I took my dad to the F1 earlier this year, and we had seats right in front of the pits, and it was awesome! Pics are here: http://pics.pca-cwr.org/main.php?g2_itemId=11373& Some other friends had them at the hairpin, etc., but I never visited them, so am not sure of how they'd compare. All I can say is that the noise/action of the pits and the grid were VERY entertaining. It WAS a hell of a walk to get to the seats, though, so my dad had issues (had to use a cane due to a bad knee that was just operated on). |

Wife and I went about 10 or so years ago. We enjoyed ourselves there more than any other F1 race we've been to. We sat at the hairpin (don't remember the stand no.) and there was lots of activity there. If we were to go again, we'd get seats in the same spot.

I've sat in most of the stands, and most have some good qualities. Hairpin is great, there is some passing and lots of crowd energy. Gold stands opposite the pits are fun to watch pit action, but no race action on the front straight. Just 200 mph blurs. We made it to Stand 12 about 6 years ago, and haven't moved since. Race start is worth the price of admission. It's a tough corner, a passing opportunity, and pit out is right there as well. The extra bonus is if you hustle, you can easily get to the podium.
Here's what we passed last year on the way to the podium ceremony: ![]()

Thanks guys for your input. Ron, I thought about the seats by the hairpin too. Tough decision...
I haven't been to the track before (obviously), but is there a general admission area that has the view of the pits? I assume I can get to the "floor" areas with the grand stand tickets. If that works, I think I can get my pit action fix on Friday and Saturday, then I'll watch the Sunday race by Turn 1. Rodeo, I searched the board for Canadian GPs and saw a couple of your posts. That IS one cool pic! Jeff, saw you at Porsche North too ![]() ![]()

As of tonight there is about 5" of snow on the ground. I just slogged my way to get a medication refill for my wife, and NOBODY is on the streets.
I LOVE IT!! (I'm a big fan of winter). I'm going to be in ON for Christmas with my family this year, so no p-car fun around that time for me. I haven't really heard anything from anyone about anything going on. Enjoy Regina. |
